Hurricane Update Thread!

Guys,
This one reminds me ALOT of the path that HUGO took 10 years ago. And that came right to my doorstep here in Rock Hill, South Carolina[25 miles south of CharlotteNC]. We were without power for 2 weeks. Lotsa chainsaw and machete work. I'll be filling propane bottles and wiring the generator tomorrow. I filled the car and extra gas cans already. Grocery store and home depot was CRAZY. Now we start getting ready and watching the internet weather sites.

Guys on the coast, keep us informed, because they DO come inland sometimes......

Well I may get to do a head to head test with the Busse #7, MAD DOG Atak and the Cold Steel Recon Scout a few days sooner and under REAL conditions!

Just had our first Tornado right up the street! FUN!

Blades the only way to slow this hurricane down would be to tow a HUGE iceberg undeneath to cool the water down which feeds it.

Of course Will Fennell could walk out on his porch by the lake and start blowing south to make if veer away

When Floyd is done it looks like there is another one lining up behind it. I think it was called Gert. Hang on!

I want to say thanks to all who have shown concern for mine and Sparks safety. I joke around a lot and for the most part that is to make everyone feel better (myself included).

The worst will come tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to remain online and give you a heads up on our situation concerning the forums and whether or not will will have to shut down.

As a side note orders placed with the BFC Store will not go out most likely till Friday. WOW is shut down and all calls to BFC are routed through there and I shut it down today and have no intention of opening back till Thursday at the earliest.

Please do not email us looking for orders and such as all info is at WOW and Spark and I are working from home building web sites and we do not have access to that info here

I will give you another update tomorrow morning but simply watching the news will give you an idea of what is going on down here.

Again thanks for all your concern.

I think it's gonna turn North. hit Georgian possibly, most likely South Carolina. Might want to get some sleep Mike, even if only for 4 or 5 hrs. Could be a busy day tommorow. To tell you the truth, I almost wish we could switch places; I could be down there with a recon scout and Busse than need to be tested and a hurrican coming, and you up here, reading 4,000 pages of bloody college crap. =)
Hey Floyd, come up toward NH, maybe wreck my campus and delay school a week or so...

Damm hurricanes, they always leave us New Englanders out of it all =(

You Coastal Guys keep your head down and take care! I am sitting here on my deck at 8664' praying for you. Be safe!

Hey Mike,

You are planning to try the Busse #7, MAD DOG Atak and the Cold Steel Recon Scout on debris and not a real tornado, right? I know they're good knives, but don't you think that might be a tad extreme! LOL

BTW - got the BF Native. Great knife and hair-popping sharp to boot!

Told ya Floridaians (that a word?) That'd I'd go past. And now the danger is over...except Hurrincane Gert is in the Atlantic picking up steam, on it's way to the US.
Don't take that plywood down quite yet...
Better yet, take other people's - then sell it back to em once they find out bout Gert

This morning is "see you at the pole" the ninth year kids have gathered early at schools to pray around the flag pole. I helped my 8th grade daughter organize her schools' event, and this morning there were many, many prayers for all of you in Floyd's path. The country is concerned, and hoping for the best. God is in control!

Mike,Spark and all others in possible danger, I wish you the best. Hey Mike, if anything happens to your houses(gods forbid) there is an extra room at my house, you and Spark can live here

Thanks again for all the concern. The Eye just past us a few minutes ago so we are all clear from here on out. Looks like the Carolinas are next so look out up there.

Well, it passed right by Jacksonville, so we're out of the woods unless it makes a 90 degree turn right now, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was nervous and wondering if I'd made the right decision to stay.

What really made me reconsider was a news broadcast where they put a guy in a wind tunnel and showed what would happen at the various wind speeds. I wish they had shown that earlier, I would have gotten the hell out of dodge. Maybe next time they'll put a car in there and show how little it takes to flip one.

Oh well, lessons learned, and I'm glad it missed us and didn't take out the server.

Thanks for all the well wishes, folks, and keep praying for Georgia / S.C.

I'm very glad it's headed away from you now. I'm keeping everyone else in the path in my thoughts and prayers.

Kinda weird...we had almost no rain at all here in Gainesville. I'm glad it went as far east of the coast as it did...looks as if Florida dodged a bullet. I'm kinda glad I've got friends here who've been thru this before (including Andrew)...makes it easier to guestimate what we're up against. Anyhow, good luck to you guys further up the coast

They've announced many school closings here in the DC area for tomorrow. This could hit us as hard as any storm in recent memory. I hope everyone in the path can stay out of harms way.

Looks like Floyd is moving NNE now and may just clip NC? . Florida dodged her, Georgia Dodged her and it looks like SC dodged her. Here in western Md, we could use more rain in the watertable. Eastern NC is under tornado alert. Gert is packing 150MPH winds and her present direction is WEST. But she could turn and follow Floyd. Hope not. Hurricanes scare me. I have been in 2 typhoons in the Pacific. i pray everyone dodges Floyd and the sleeper behind him:Geert.
