Well you guys dodged the bullet. Now those up the coast have to be careful. The military has evacuated installations as far north as Langley and with cause.

The only decent news is that Floyd is now down to a class 3 and that Gert is predicted to turn north well in advance of the mainland and become a non-event. Here's hoping

I've been on a bike and hit 135mph...ya, that wind is *unbelievable*. At that point, you scrunch down behind the windshield and if you sit up you get blown right off the back.

I've been told that hurts. I wouldn't know, I ain't stupid enough to sit up when tached out in 5th on a 5-speed.

DC area report is liberal leave for feds and most schools closed. Traffic was really light this morning. Flooding will happen in low areas. One of the roads I came in on was half covered and the creek was just beginning to rise.

In my younger, wilder days I was at 130 on a bike a coupla times. You wouldn't want to sit up.

Stay safe everyone in Floyds path. Sorry Ivan, Western Maryland (west of the divide) is not supposed to get a lot of rain according to the forecast. Hope that is wrong. I know they need it.
