Hutning knife poll???

Well I polished them up and they look pretty now. I just need to work on my photo skills before I post them I keep getting the flash. But if I recall one of my knife world magazines has an article on photographing knives. I will look at it after I get back from fishing.

Nice collection kyhunt.

I've used a 110 in one form or another as my basic deer hunting knife since I started hunting. For turkeys and small game I like the Buck Odyssey.

For me its been the 105 since I was about thirteen. I am now looking to upgrade to the Vanguard or the Alpha Hunter Fixed Blade.

The only issue I have with the vanguard is that it fills my hands a little to well. I have short fingers so the handle seems to be a bit much. Would like to see it with a slightly smaller/ thinner handle.

For field dressing I use my lucky knife of course! I rehandled a 475 in stag and take it with me whenever I hit the woods. Just plain old 420hc, works for me. I use it on turkeys, elk, and deer.
I also carry a smooth stag handled 103 and 105, both one liners, aka 440C, to finish the job on the elk and deer. I loves them! :)

And here I keep thinking with all of your pics of it " I NEED to get one of those :D "
Definately a nice knife!!!

The stag one my wife bought me for Christmas. Only thing it has cut is some packaging and my finger tips. The Vanguard gets used on small game. I hate to say it but havent got a deer yet. Hey maybe its my unlucky knife. No I just need to learn to shoot.

Your just giving the deer a chance with your "warning shot" :D

I also practice this "technique" occassionally...:o

I am sorry I thought I had already replyed.I carried a case folding hunter
for 20 years. But my brother-in-law and the oldest member of my hunting
club got me to using Bucks. Not to mention the guys on this fourm.
I started carring a 120,119,vanguard,two 110's and a 105.I am still
field testing to see what i like the best.I used the above on deer last fall.
When the watermelons get right I am going to work on them with that 120.
Anyway that is what I carry now.
Hawkeye,

Does anybody know why the wood handle Vanguard has spacers but the rubber handle ones don't??

Over the years, the 110 has field dressed anything I hunt. Deer, Turkey, Javelina, and maybe a rabbit or squirrel.

Last couple of years, I have played with the S30V and the edge holds up sharper longer. This coming season, I will try the 154 110.

This past year, I used a couple of newly acquired 121's for getting the meat off the bone and into the cooler.

The extra length over the 110 made it nice for getting the quarters off and the backstrap peeled out.

Since the truck is always near, I usually only have the 110 on me in a horizontal sheath. The other backup 110''s, 121's, and other tools are there handy.

Those spacers actually serve a purpose, along with just makeing the handle look nicer. They are a type of rubber and this allows for a nice compressed fit with all the handle components.
Since the rubber handled one is already rubber, no need for rubber spacers. :)

Custom Shoppe 110 with ATS-34 and Stag (hasn't dressed or skinned anything yet). Also use a 420HC Alpha Hunter with rubber handel (dressed a hog and went dull while skinning).

Hey Joe...
could you post a pic of your 103 & 105 where you can see the buck usa
stamp please.
Thanks
jeff

I'll post a picture of them. I have them at home with my hunting stuff so it will be tomorrow.

Here are the workhorses of my hunting knives, minus the 475 which I forgot at home.
I rehandled these with smooth sambar stag because it kind of looks like the white melamine Buck used to offer back in the early 1960's. Finding one of those knives today is like winning the lottery!
