I ain't drunk (yet). .. I'm just drinkin'!!!!!!

Progunner,
Been thinking about a Wilson Combat CQB or Les Baer Thunder Ranch. Is Baer better in your opinion? If so, why? Just curious...

Alpha,

Trust me on this, save your duckets and get the 220. You will have no regrets. Except perhaps the lul in the INFI supply.

Additionally, that is a super pistol right out of the box. (Not unlike my favorite) This is a tremendous plus for folks not in Law Enforcement or Military employment in the event that we must use a pistol for its ultimate and intended purpose. Not that I wouldn't very much enjoy a custom 1911.

Anyone have one of these??

My Sig 220 shoots as well as any other .45 I have had the chance to lay my mits on. Better than most. It edges out my Glock 21 but not by a whole lot. My only gripe with it is that I'm left handed and it isn't really as user friendly as my Glock is. Without modifications my 1911 wouldn't be either but most people don't have this problem.

Funny you ask.. I had a Wilson CQB Compact. We never really saw eye to eye so I started looking and lo and behold out comes the Thunder Ranch Special. Don't get me wrong Wilson's fit and finish were very good, but it just did feel like and extension of my arm. I bought a TRS, I have shot the hell out of it and I love it. I love Les's work so much I found a guy to trade me a LBC Stinger (Officers Models style) for the CQB Compact. The Stinger shoots just as nice as the TRS and in a smaller package no less. One thing that did happen to my TRS was after several thousand rounds the hammer would follow the slide home and stay at half cock, but only if you let the slide travel home by using the slide release. If you cycled the action with you hand, it was just fine. I sent Les an email describing what was up and they told me to send it in. I sent it on Monday afternoon and had it back by Thursday noon the same week. They adjusted the trigger and hammer set up and I have had no problems since. That is just my two cents.

evolhd,

Let us not forget the wear and tear on hands!

If it isn't comfortable to shoot, you won't practice.
If you don't practice, don't rely on firearms for self preservation.

I have had a few 1911 style pistols
springfield loaded
Para Limited
Springfield TRP (really nice)
Blue Kimber
& my Current a Kimber Classic Stainless
Still like my 34 for matches.

Ok. I will do just that. Thanks, OKU

Parradiggum, Iam a lefty too. I have gotten very good at dropping the mag and hitting the slide release with my left index finger. I guess that's just part of it.:( :)

Is that a SWKW WarHawk I see? Where did you get it and where can I get one?

Dropping the mag has never been a problem it's that pesky thumb safty on the 1911. I have a custom onw with the ambi safety and an old Remington 1911 that is stock. It's not a problem I just wouldn't carry one for defense without the ambi cause that's just something else that could go wrong.

Sent you an E-mail Alpha

I know. As a marginal shooter, walking away with more '10 ring' shots than most everyone there, almost every time, just feels good, and SIG get's the credit... ;)

P-220/225/226/228...rock on!

(Nutin' wrong w/1911's and BHP's..have 'em, love 'em, but they're not SIG's...just like Randall's and Gerber's aren't Busse's...'See?')

Para,

The ambi thing is super when available.

The other thing that makes a difference is PRACTICE. During a class the instructor forbid us to use our dominant hand for about 30min. This includes reloads, draws and holstering (snap caps are a gooooood thing when learning these skills) talk about a learning experience!
