As personal as this is, I grew up in a very old Victorian style farm house out in the middle of the country. All throughout my childhood we experienced some things that really were very unexplainable. I have a bunch of stories of things that happened all while living there. I am a very scientific minded person, but the variety and oddity of the events really makes me think and can even give me chills to this day. I know I had some weird things happen to me and my family in that house. I have even had older members of the community ask me if anything ever happened in the house. This includes an 88 year old man who was born IN the house.

All of this said, I once asked my dad when I was a kid about ghosts and things like that, and he told me that if you let things like that in, then you open up the possibility of experiencing them. I have my own interpretation of that, but others might view it differently.

The human brain is wired to look for patterns like shapes and faces and does this a little too well to the point that people see things that aren't really there. The face on Mars is a good example. Most sightings and paranormal things actually have a pretty solid scientific explanation.

I once read an article about a scientist who looked into the phenomenon of ghost sightings after several people started claiming to see things and get feelings of dread and other things people associate with spirits in the building he worked in. The building was fairly new and didn't have any history of death and despair so he broke out his trusty ol' scientific method and found out the experiences people had tended to more frequent in certain spots, spots that happened to be within proximity to the air vents for the central climate control system. This might be harder to believe than ghosts but it turns out that there is a sound frequency outside of our normal range of hearing but when exposed to it it causes the ear drums to vibrate in such a way as to cause feelings of uneasiness, depression, and/or dread. And this same frequency can actually cause a person's eyeballs to vibrate in a way that you see figures and shapes out of the corners of your eye. So as it turns out the AC ducts were not secured down very well as a cost-cutting measure during the construction and they just so happen to be resonating at the exact frequency to cause all this weird stuff to people. After finding all this out the air ducts were secured better and all the ghostly experiences stopped.

Now of course we can't prove that spirits and ghosts and shadow people don't exist but I haven't heard/seen of any credible stories that can't be picked apart.

My inlaws have a cabin in Newfoundland which apparently many people have had contact with shadow people. One of them claimed it to be a grand parent that died.

Apparently one of the wife's cousins was on the way back from the bathroom in the middle of the night and walked around somebody (he thought was his girlfriend) but when he got back to the bedroom she was there sleeping.

I've never had any personal experience with it tho.

Sorry about the news bladite. Muchos good vibes and smoke brother.

Hmm, all very interesting, thanks for the response. Just for the record though, I have not seen anything. But it seems im the only one in my household that hasnt. I don't think that theres anything dangerous. But just some things that are not normal by any definition of the word. My son who is 11. I found out from my mother of all people claims he has been seeing a large black shadow in doorway at night, then he says a prayer and it disappears, ive have just kinda played it off as kids imagination but he felt so convinced about it that he seeked out my mother to talk to her AND our churched pastor that is also his religion teacher. So, obviously in his mind its real. Also, when we first moved into this house, my daughter would get up and sit in a rocking chair in her room in the middle of the night, I would hear her from acroos the house and go check on her. I would ask her who shes talking to, and she would claim she was talking to and sitting on the lap of Papaw Ray. Who was my wifes grandfather, and had died 7 years before my daughter was born. I asked my wife if she had ever talked about her grandpa to my daughter (now 12) and she swore she had not. That was about eight years ago. My daughter has no recollection of it........

Just weird stuff. Whatever is going on it seems to only be on the kids side of the house. I have never heard or seen anything other than the thermostat going up and down mysteriously, but I blamed the kids on that, but they swear they hadn't touched it.

Nothing like gettin' home from a crap day at work, and puttin' one on, haha. I couldn't even taste orange juice in them there screwdrivers.

Alright! Just got home and the daughter insists on back to the future marathon... I dig it

Hello!? McFly!!

So...my mother lived in a sorta older double wide...nothing strange at all, decent area about 50 yards from the inlet. She had a little nik nak shelf where a small part, about 4 in X 4 in, had a little door with a magnet that kept it shut. This is where we kept a couple of decks of cards and dice for games since it hung near the dining room table. We were constantly closing this door. Never saw it opening but always closed it. I messed around with it and tried to make it open but could not. So we joked around about "the ghost" always opening it, haha. Then we'd notice the back door cracked open just a bit. Same thing...haha. Nothing weird or creepy, just kinda kooky, figured old cheap trailer.

One day after coming home from all day fishing the clock was on the floor...one like this...

This clock had a little black plastic bumper on the back at the tip to, I suppose, keep it level against the wall.

When we looked up, there was an almost 180 degree, half circle black mark on the wall!!!

Nothing sciency there unless you figure the entire house shook back and forth until the clock fell. Nothing else was out of place except the little door on the nik nak shelf which, of course...was open...

I don't recall anyone checking the back door...

Thank you, Ivanova.

I have a question for you gun guys, I'm looking to get a good all around camping/hiking/fun gun. I can decide between a 10/22 takedown(already have a 10/22 carbine) or a stoeger coach gun

New steel is always a good consolation prize....

Took my bow over to the KTP today 'cause I was shooting it yesterday and noticed one of the limbs looked a bit twisted (cam kinda at an angle); I wanted to get an idea whether it was still safe to shoot. Turns out it is, but the new rest I had installed wasn't torqued down well enough, apparently - turns out it had crept away from the riser quite a bit. I also wanted to get a new sight as they had one on super sale that I had been looking at; funny 'cause yesterday no matter how many times I adjusted my sight, I'd end up shooting too far to the left and have to readjust it.......shoot a few good shots then move it to the left a bit more.....thank goodness for professionals. All set up and ready to go now. Not bad for a 20 year old bow.

10/22 is cheaper, shotgun is more versatile. Check the pawn shops and gun stores and see if you can find some single-shot shotguns. I have a few, most I've left alone but one NEF I shortened and it's a dandy little gun. Hurts like the dickens with 1oz. slugs though. Were you the one asking about the 870 trade-in's? Get one of those,or any decent pump gun. It'll do what the coach gun can do but with better ammo capacity.

the single shots are nice, but I've always wanted a double barreled 12ga. and I was asking about the 870's, but I've ruled those out for now due to the fact I really don't have a need for one. I have my ithaca 37 for hunting and a winchester model 1200 riot gun for everything else.

Awhile back I bought a stainless steel Klean Kanteen as my first ever stainless steel bottle. I've had numerous Naglene bottles (BPA free and BPA included) over the years. I really wanted to like the stainless steel, but the one I've got makes the water metallic tasting and after a while it sets my teeth on edge like I bit down on a fork.

Is that standard with stainless steel bottles? Did I get a problem one?

Not standard. I rarely use my Nalgenes anymore. They just don't fit in my cupholders. If I'm using plastic (or whatever fancy name you call it) I use my Camelbak Chute. Otherwise, Hydroflask and or Klean Kanteen.

I've been using 40 ounce Klean kanteens for a couple years now. I give a good wash with soap and water when I get them, and can't recall having any issues with a metallic taste.

No boom today, boom tomorrow

Good luck on the job search...I'm sure you'll boom soon. :D

Of the two, I'd say the 10/22 Takedown would be more easily packed for camping/hiking. But I've been looking at the Savage Model 42 Combo (.22LR/.410 over-under). It seems like it would be a ton of fun and having a combo gun gives you lots of options.

Stopped on the way into the office today for some coffee, they introduced me to a new coffee drink called a Kyoto. 12 oz of cold brewed coffee with 4 (double) shots of espresso. I added a packet of raw sugar just cause they like to use a darker roast for their espresso pulls.

I don't know about the new ones but I've read the older Savage O/U guns didn't shoot the same POI on the barrels. I've been wanting a Rossi .22/.410 combo. Much cheaper and I don't have to worry about two barrels with one set of sights.

Sounds about right...where was this?

Place is called Comet Coffee in St. Louis, it's about 2 blocks from my office. I apparently am one of the very few customers that keeps up with the employees for caffeine consumption. I usually will go in and order something and they will tell me they came up with something new and will give me that instead.
