Zippos are cool, but the fluid evaporates out so they aren't very practical. You just can't beat a Bic. Would be nice if they offered transparent models so you could see how much fluid is left in them.

Or, get one of the windproof lighters at WallyWorld for 3-4 bucks. Clear bottom and comes with a refill canister as well. Best outdoor lighter for the $$ ever.

whelp.

looks like i got the GOL treatment today.

two weeks notice is a luxury i guess.

still, i'll pony up some money, and see about getting some new Becker merch soon.

That sucks. I heard there's some farms in Colorado that need security. :D

Haven't seen those. All the other refillable lighters I've tried were junk but I've never ponied up for a decent one either.

Sorry to hear that man.

Hey Bladite, sorry about the job drying up. Ethan may need a man-servant. It'd be a good gig, pays in steel and travel included.

In other news, GkRuck events are just as hard as they look on tv.

while i'm sure he can afford to pay me in steel, i'm pretty sure that's too much steel for my needs...

as well, i'm already his minion in some fashion ;)

already getting strong leads.

mmm...

Tomar's finally has the BK21 listed as available now so I ordered one. I would have sprung for express shipping but he doesn't offer it so I might not get it before I have to go back to work.

Dangit.
Good luck! Will holler if I hear anything.

I got a off the wall question for you guys, anybody ever heard or had any experience with I guess whats called shadow people? Dark shadow like figures that show up, disappear, stand in doorways and whatnot. I've done a little research on them, never really believed in that kind of stuff, but supposedly there legit. Also, supposedly they are harmless but who knows. Anybody know anything? Thoughts?

Fun fact for the day: Cocobolo is a serious contact allergen, because it contains quinones, including being the sole source of obtusaquinone. It also contains S-4'-hydroxy-4-methoxydalbergione, and R-4-methoxydalbergione. Those chemicals are naturally-occurring plant defenses against fungal, and other predator attacks (which evidently includes woodworkers, knifemakers, and jewelry collectors).

The human brain is wired to look for patterns like shapes and faces and does this a little too well to the point that people see things that aren't really there. The face on Mars is a good example. Most sightings and paranormal things actually have a pretty solid scientific explanation.

I once read an article about a scientist who looked into the phenomenon of ghost sightings after several people started claiming to see things and get feelings of dread and other things people associate with spirits in the building he worked in. The building was fairly new and didn't have any history of death and despair so he broke out his trusty ol' scientific method and found out the experiences people had tended to more frequent in certain spots, spots that happened to be within proximity to the air vents for the central climate control system. This might be harder to believe than ghosts but it turns out that there is a sound frequency outside of our normal range of hearing but when exposed to it it causes the ear drums to vibrate in such a way as to cause feelings of uneasiness, depression, and/or dread. And this same frequency can actually cause a person's eyeballs to vibrate in a way that you see figures and shapes out of the corners of your eye. So as it turns out the AC ducts were not secured down very well as a cost-cutting measure during the construction and they just so happen to be resonating at the exact frequency to cause all this weird stuff to people. After finding all this out the air ducts were secured better and all the ghostly experiences stopped.

Now of course we can't prove that spirits and ghosts and shadow people don't exist but I haven't heard/seen of any credible stories that can't be picked apart.

Hey Todd, maybe all that cocobolo wood you've been working with lately is making you hallucinate. :D

My inlaws have a cabin in Newfoundland which apparently many people have had contact with shadow people. One of them claimed it to be a grand parent that died.

Apparently one of the wife's cousins was on the way back from the bathroom in the middle of the night and walked around somebody (he thought was his girlfriend) but when he got back to the bedroom she was there sleeping.

I've never had any personal experience with it tho.

Sorry about the news bladite. Muchos good vibes and smoke brother.
