Please, no.....don't stop...don't....stop....
I think they're great. I tried it with some smaller acorns and didn't get very far. The acorns were way too hard and I was pretty sure I was going to end up carving my finger instead. Are you holding them in your hand while doing this? Maybe I just need to find the right kind of acorns

Kinda sorta, usually pinch the blade up high so I just have enough blade to use. Also I try and use a backstop for firmer cuts, an arm rest or something, or I kick up my leg and carefully use my ankle where it's covered up by a layer of boot and jeans.

As far as the acorns go the greener, fresher, and larger ones seem to cut the easiest.

Y'alls computers just suck :D I have no problem seeing Gus's pictures.

IWHaF; you should make an animated series with your acorn people  some kind of corny comedy sketch :D I could see great things popping from adult comedy and acorn people.

In other news, I'm out of Sailor Jerry's :( I may just have to go to bed.

Hmmm, apparently, you gotta have a Google+ account in order to see the images hosted on the http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/ server.

Here's the whole link ....

mmm beer

just finished my first college application, definitely not my idea of fun

Yeah, it's no one's idea of fun. Just wait until ten or twenty years from now and you'll look at your life and wonder how college connects even remotely to where you are (in the future ;)). Not to be discouraging, because I do think it's a great idea to go to college if you can, but.....something like 30% of college grads work in a job anywhere near related to what they went to college for. Good luck! And get in touch with crimsonfalcon; he might be able to help you out a bit - he's offered before.

mmMMmmm....beer. Having a Little Horror of Hops from Shipyard riIight now. B-mod -check it:

Getting the new sight and release a little more dialed in. Shooting with gloves today, just in case I may need to in the future.....

mmm, gunna have to step beyond 10 feet there :>

next spring, i want one of those bandless optic peeps with click stop reticle. oh yeah. i've somewhat hit a limit on what i can see/shoot with pins.

course, i might also want... a different bow? proper target bow?

shoppe says i should get new strings "sometime soon". pricey enough to buy a new bow.

No doubt....looking at a C-note to replace string and cables on my 20 year old bow. Gonna shoot 'em 'til they're done. I had a really nice Hoyt Meridin (or some such) a decade ago; long limbed target compound with a 6x scope and a big Bowmar stabilizer . Super fun to shoot and could hit X's all day at 20 yards. Sold it and kept the Flashpoint. Hunting bow seemed more useful at the time.....and still does. If my goal was to be as accurate as possible, I wouldn't have the money...nor the time. Rather have something I can shoot for fun and try and improve on a bit; something I might be able to hunt with.....and since I don't shoot leagues or compete anymore, well.....this one's perfect for the back yard - or the woods.

My girlfriend's dad made some pretty cool bows and we've been practicing with them together. Fun times, but for some reason I always hold the bow so that the string strike the inner side of my forearm. Probably bad technique? Any help on how to adjust my pose would be appreciated, you guys seems knowledgeable :D

Keep your elbow bent, take a look at your wrist and make sure your not locking it back.

NC, I like the way you think bud. I wouldn't feel like I was ripping anyone off... The sandals didn't last past 3 months for real... And I paid for 2 pairs now... Not like I'll be getting anything free.... I'm going with your plan lol :D

On the archery subject, I get string burned all the time too... Especially when I forget or refuse to wear a guard... In my case it's always my form... Normally after I have shot quite a bit and getting tired... Lazy... Easier to lock that arm... Not a good plan though....

I got people here that get real serious into archery... They try and correct me all the time... I'm not so great, and don't try and pretend that I plan on becoming great... But I do enjoy shooting... In fun, relaxed, settings....

AR build update, started machining my own lowers. I'm going off of AR blueprints and not using the jigs just because thats what I've done a big part of my adult life and have the equipment. However, ive researced the jig and kits that are out there, they make that stuff really simple if anyone is interested. While the equipment I have is nice, I think you could get by with doing a functional job with just a drill press and a little ingenuity.

Very nice, Todd. I'd like to make my own lower, but don't care enough right now about the government having a serial number to make it worth the extra cost. If it were cheaper than just buying one for 40 bucks, I'd be all over it.
