I cheated with another...again.

Jeff I'll PM you with a opinion on that GEC slippie after I get it. Yep, I can see a Randall man going for an old classic pattern like that. That stag looks pretty sweet.

Sorry to hear about you having the swine flu!! I certainly hope its a mild case and you get well quickly.

OK, I think I should remind all why I started this thread. My earlier post:
I've had a joking tone with all this but I started this thread with the specific intention of getting the attention of CJ, Joe, and other high level Buck employees about the demand for premium steel slippies. I would not have spent my Buck dollars on a Case or an fancy Queen if Buck would give me a slippie option in something like 154cm.

I haven't bought any more slippies since my 'slipping' and going a bit weird over some Boker Tree Brand 'classics' - and a couple other non-descript German slippies - earlier this year. I did get a Benchmade 635BK as a gift from my wife on our anniversary in June. It was sharp - something my only two other B-M's weren't now 6.5 yr ago. I had to try - and bought a full sized 630 Skirmish - and a few other B-Ms - all sharp. Then, yesterday, I got a deal on the last new 425 Gravitator I could find - and it was a local dealer - and would only cut butter if you heated it. Back to square one with them.

I don't understand how a well known knife company can sell a knife that is dull. I blame it on Buck. The only knife with Buck emblazoned on it that was dull out of the box was my first 850 Bravo last year - and that was because the blade edge drug on the liner - a defective knife. That's it. A $27 Wally World Buck 110, etc, sets a high standard of sharpness B-M apparently can't meet. See, its Buck's fault!! Why in the world would I expect a knife to be sharp? Am I supposed to use it to cut something with or what?? Buck spoiled me. I still have more 110s than I do examples of any other brand, save Vic SAKs... always been a sucker for them.

So, my latest dalliance - philandering - was with a dull knife. Kind of sad, isn't it?

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to see the 301 offered by the custom shop? Imagine a 301 with Sambar stag scales and S30V steel, with the ability to engrave the main blade? Or jigged water buffalo? Or for the lady, an Ellensburg Blue agate inlay on the scale? (where the hammer & knife & bolt inlay would be on production models)? Or black oxide blades? Or, S30V steel blades with titanium aluminum nitride coatings?

I'd buy several of them if they were available. :)

Drool drool ...

That's a beautiful picture you paint Wolfdog!! Titanium aluminum nitride S30V blades on a jigged buffalo stockman. Yes Sireee!!! That would be something.

I've picked up a couple of Case copperocks with Wharnecliffe blades and ordered a Lone Wolf Paul Perfecto. I love those blades and if Buck would offer something like the 532 with one I'd be on them like a hen on a june bug and sell the Case's.

Well I got the GEC today. Funny but despite being a very nice piece, it's probably not for me. :(

Anyway, CJ you could make it easy for me and start up the old Camillus pattern stockmans in some kind a interesting handle materials. Hint Hint :)

I cheated big time today...and it wasn't a slippy...A Busse Battle Mistress. Never know when I may need to fight of zombies.

That's a cool looking Zombie killer.... I wood like to see Buck make some slippie options too... S30V, 154cm or some other premium steel would be nice... Maybe someday... ...

It will be many years before I can afford my "Zombie Killer," but it will happen eventually. It won't be a Busse, though. Still, they're nice knives - just not for me.

Gord, still waiting for that PM telling me why you don't like the knife. I want a full report. (I'm feeling much better, by the way.)

I just cheated again. CJ please give us a premium blade slippie.

Queen Limited Edition Dan Burke Rancher in Sambar Stag and BG-42. This a 4 1/8th inch closed knife with a 3in blade.

OK, I've been cheating again actually quite a bit of late. But the point of this post is I've been hoping for a D2 option in the Custom Shop for a long time. No Luck!! :(

The fact is, I have lusted after this 4" clip point in D2 for a long time despite disliking the scull in the G10. So today after much waiting and considering, "I cheated with another...again"

I really do hope that Buck will offer D2 one day in some of its folders. Really good blade steel imo.

Here's a photo with a SxS with a 110
