I disarmed the local police department of their knives!

I think gun guys generally like top of the line gear. They also usually read up on guns and gear in magazines and the internet. It is there that one would likely see ads and talk of more quality knives. That leads to poeple (or cops) buying better knives. You also have the cops that want to buy what spec ops or swat guys buy. Just a theory anyway.

I also agree that most cops are not gun/knife nuts. Most of the ones that I know only shoot when they are mandated to do so. It's usually those same ones that carry no knife or something very cheap.

As a former LEO myself, I never question the primary weapon of any current LEO, nor am I going to ask about their EDC knife on duty. I just pray they carry the right handgun and skills to tactically save their life (or that of others) should that situation arise.

Very reasonable.

Hopefully my posts are not offensive . I guess I was purposely vague, but I will clarify where I am coming from with my comments. I am a police officer and the people I am talking about are my coworkers.

The LEOs in the 2 small towns N/S of me PRIMARILY carry cheapie, junk folders clipped to one of their front pockets.

When I asked them about their knives, they said that since neither department pays for them, and because they tend to loose knives when rolling in the dirt tackling idiots who decide to run, they go with the junk knives. One of the chiefs has a Protech Godfather, but he said he only carries it in civies when off-duty.

Makes perfect sense to be.

You could just buy them a Zancuda or Avispa. It would set you back less than $48 for both. True, they are liner/frame locks with AUS8 steel. They are certainly better than what they have and if they lose them...they are cheap.

Many people that need to carry knives in their work use cheap ones.

Most people just dont care about knives and those work just fine, and it's not like they know any better anyways.

It's up to us knife enthusiasts to gift these guys proper knives.

Gave my bro-in-law (he's a cop) an Endura 4. First good knife he's had.
I use good knives at work I ain't scared.

^ Sure you ain't scared, Wolf! That's why you wear one of those asthma inhaler's.^ :D

Nice knife, crappy flashlight. You should go on to a flashlight forum so they can razz you about your lousy equipment. (Our trucks are full of those flashlights- even the "new" LEDs suck).

Don't use the light much as I can see in the dark👀

But it says police on it:D, that has to be the appropriate knife. I bet they were easy to sharpen.

and it shows marketing does work. they got cops to buy poor quality knives with "police" and "search and rescue" labels on them.

I have a couple of friends in our PD. One of them stops by occasionally on his break and we normally talk assault and sniper rifles. He told me he was looking for a new fixed blade for his duty belt. I went into the house and brought out my Rat Cutlery(ESEE) RC3 and told him that they would put his PD logo on the blade for free. Two weeks later he came by my house and told me every officer and the police chief had ordered one. I thought that was kind of

Just like the watch I wore on the job..a G-Shock Casio.
I know one airport cop that wears a $10,000 Rolex on patrol. He doesn't see much action here (small airport) but still. That's nuts IMO.
