I would just like to add, when you receive his package I would do an unboxing video just in case, to document exactly what is in the box. Also I would weigh the box just to make sure it is around the weight of the knife you should be receiving.

I have never had to go though this kind of stuff when I was buying or trading a knife. he needs a neg so no one else has to go though this like you are going though.

I agree wholeheartedly. It will suck for him to have negative feedback on his profile but it is definitely a reflection of his actions. That is what the feedback system does, it helps inform us of what we're getting into.

Ugh... Aside from the obvious I'd hate to be in your shoes. The idea of giving negative feedback is an enormous downer. I don't blame you for considering the implication of its effect. I say go with your gut.

I hope this works out for you OP. I've had to use this forum for negative experiences before and it's no fun. Remember that you held up your end of the deal and acted completely appropriately.
Use that as your measuring stick when it comes time for feedback.
Something I think is crucial in situations like this is waiting long enough for the item to be delivered before posting. And you did that. Where I and others often make a mistake is staying silent too long after the appropriate amount of time has passed. In my opinion this decreases the chances of a positive outcome. Again, you did great and I think that by creating pressure for the other party sooner than later is good for everyone. It doesn't allow them to get comfortable with the new toy and alerts others who may also become victims.
Lastly, and certainly not least, contracting the mods here is a must. They are all great people and do a fantastic job. Without their help and support I don't think my last problem would have had such a positive outcome.
Again, good luck to you. I really hope the other party makes good on his promise.

My .02: You posted it here, leave him negative feedback, now, unless the knife is worth more than the cost of pursuing it legally, let it go and trade with good folks, which most folks here are. Don't let it eat you up. I can see how you're getter more and more upset with each post, but you'll never see the knife. That's just the reality. Don't let this POS ruin your love of knives. Karma will bite him in the arse for sure.
Best wishes in happier future trades.

Don't let the anger eat you up. It kills part of your soul after a while. I know in a way I never would have imagined.

Peace my friend.

Doesn't kill it,just makes it angry(& cautious).:)

OP,Let me be the first to say I appreciate your thoroughness & details to the situation. Not many can seem to pull that off lately.
I really hope you get your retributions.I also thing that neg FB would not be out of line given the circumstances.

Evil,

I hope it works out but gotta ask, He has no feedback has only been an "registered user" here for about a month and you do not ask him to ship first???

Again, I hope it works out

that right there should of been a BIG RED FLAG. at lease it would be to me.

He emailed to say that he has shipped the item. I did lock down the active threads he had open until this is resolved.

Now he's emailing me a bunch. I told him if I receive the knife (even 2 and a half weeks late) then we're square... Then should I let the thread die or close it ? And what do I rate this on I-trader... I don't want his first trader rating to be negative.

I feel strongly that BF members should leave clear, honest accounts of their transactions because we owe that to our fellow members. However, if by "then we're square" you stated that you would not leave a negative i-trader rating, then I would say 1) you have to stand by your word and 2) you might want to think twice about making such an agreement in the future.

If you think you are bound by your agreement not to leave negative i-trader feedback, but you don't think it is right to leave positive feedback, you could consider leaving none at all, and allowing those considering trading with Hickory407 to rely on posts like this, which tell the whole story.

BTW, re: your concren abut his first i-trader rating to be negative, my teacher wife would tell her students, "I didn't GIVE you a D, you EARNED a D."

It appears that the items were received by the OP. he has sent me a PM and indicated such.

ETA: I had a bad feeling about this member that I had dealt with them before for something similar. As it turns out it is a returning banned member, and has been rebanned after confirmation was obtained.
