I like folders and I have some really nice ones, but I don´t own A Spyderco. I just don´t like their design. I can´t really put my finger on it but there is someting about Spydercos wide, leafshape blades, that I just can´t cope with. I want to like Spyderco because they make nice and good folders but I just can´t like them. I´m much more of a Benchmade fan. I´ve fondeld several Spydercos at "my" knifeshop, but always, nehh, it´s not for me... Should I seek help or continuing byuing Benchmades??? Is there a Spyderco modell that beats the big BM 710, or the small 707 Sequel??

stop trolling.

I have several spydies that i like better than benchmades for various reasons. take the sage 2 for example. it's basically spyderco's sabenza, i highly prefer it to just about all of the benchmade knives i own. it's got exceptionally fast deployment, s30v, an incredibly strong lockup, a comfortable handle and a wicked sharp blade.

i prefer my delica 4 to my mini-grip because it's thinner. i prefer the mini-grip to the delica 4 because of the axis lock. they each have things i like and dislike about them.

also Spyderco Barong tops the 710 in my book on looks alone.

I'm with ya on this one. I know from being around the forums Spyderco is a well respected knife, and I know the thumb hole serves a practical purpose, I just don't like the styling.

Fortunately there are lots of great knife manufactures/styles/designs so each of us can be happy.

you should stick to BM then. i like a good, well made folder but BM designs are just too bland for me. Spydercos scratch my itch better. so the less competition I have maybe i will have a better chance of snapping up some of those sprint runs. it's okay you don't have a problem that needs fixing.

My advice is to buy what you like and enjoy.

If you are that curious about Spyderco, maybe buy a less-expenive version and try carrying for awhile.

Spyderco is an acquired taste. A lot of folks, self included, didn't like them based on looks alone, until they started using or carrying. Maybe it's the same for you - maybe not.

Nobody says you have to. It is your money. Buy what you want. You'll find fans on this forum of most major production knife companies. You'll see praise and criticism of all of them as well. It is really up to you to decide what you buy and carry. Pretty cool to have so many choices though.

hmm, this sounds like a flame war waiting to happen, i say buy what makes you happy, i have owned benchmades and thought they were so so, i just like my spydies better, but to each their own.

I didnt like spyderco at first, then i bought my first one carried it for a while and fell in love with it. Now I can stop buying them.. Its a sickness

+1. I used to dislike Spyderco because of the hole, and the blade shape, but now I'm getting a Gayle Bradley.

Spyderco makes the ugliest knives you'll ever love, but you'll never know that until you use one. They aren't made to look at, they're made to cut stuff, so if you spend more time looking at your knives than using them, don't even bother.

My Benchmades are all gathering dust, but there are Spydercos in my pockets every day. ;)

i dunno, i like looking at my blue manix and my barong. they are very pretty.

i think my Stretch II is beautiful to look at as well... one of the reasons I bought it... besides the fact that its just an amazing design

well, I thogut spydies were ugly weird at first. then i started looking at them more and at first they started to look somewhat pretty. after i got my military I got lots more models on my list.

I'm with Yablanowitz one this one. I don't have many. I don't think they're pretty, but they are great knives with great steels.

As mentioned by others an appreciation for Spydercos comes from there being used. But...once you start using several models all of a sudden more of them appear attractive. Its a strange thing.:D

All it took for me was a simple Delica. From there the Para and Sage II and UKPK quickly followed.

I will admit they still have alot out that there that is just plain weird and I doubt I'll ever own...but there are plenty of models that are just fantastic.
