I don't get it..............

I'd almost pay what was asked to get a Busse or even a Scrapyard... Seems us internationals are not welcome to purchase.
And here I was thinking the economy was in trouble...

That's just how the secondary market works, and it's no wonder really - it's a lot easier and safer to ship inside the country than outside it. There are some very good hogs out there though, that will sell stuff even overseas, though that always contains some risk. I've personal experience of that.

But generally of course, it's easier for us internationals to buy straight from Busse Combat and the infamous Skunk at the Company Store.

On the flip side.... the economy is well looking like 1929 and so it may be that the knives that are produced now will be very hard to come by in the future since few were ordered and therefore made due to lack of orders

I agree with Tony G. I know our economy will roll back the other way before too long. People will be buying Busse's again, right along with their ginormous SUV's, and the knives that are rare will demand a premium.

But...you can't buy a collectible item and expect to immediately flip it for a large profit. How much more do you think you could get for a 2008 A-Rod baseball card 15 years from now than you could today?

I'm just gonna take this opportunity to express my thanks all the great hogs who actually DO ship internationally, and help keep this wonderful community a global one!

Big thumbs up to all of you, you know who you are! ;)

+1 from me.....:thumbup::thumbup::)

What problems are you experiencing buying internationally?

Specifically, the sale forums here and on other US forums.

And the comment I came across mid order on Scrapyard knife co's website yesterday, 'International orders not accepted unless you're already an established customer of Busse combat'

I can and do by heaps of other stuff from the USA, I just have trouble buying really, really nice knives.

yay me!!

italy, australia, belgium, canada, poland, a bunch more.

ill ship anywhere so long as the buyer pays for the extra costs and assumes responsibility once the package leaves u.s. soil.

I initially set the price of mine at $360.00 this price included shipping and insurance, I always ship next day or priority (2-3 day) with whatever the knife is worth in insurance. I realize that $360.00 is a bit steep so I dropped the price down to $350.00, but I probably won't go any lower than that. Even at $360.00 I am not out to make a HUGE profit not really any profit at all, just wanted to make sure I covered my initial cost frome Busse and enough to ship it quickly. Not sure why but I have always felt that items shipped next day or priority with ins are less likely to be damaged or lost...

I cannot speak for Scrapyard because I have never purchased one directly but I have had several purchases from Busse directly (Amy-O is wonderful to deal with) all without a hitch.
I often find that even when it is stated on a site "Local shipping only" a short polite mail often results in a positive response.I have had 2 such successful purchases and both vendors agreed to deal with me and the transactions went off without a hitch....

I have also had a number of purchases from the excellent gentlemen here on the forum.... Some of which have gone well out of their way to help and accommadate me.

Although many people dislike Paypal, for international transactions it works excellently..... Get yourself a verified account and start your Busse collection.
There are a number of very knowledgeable Aussie Hogs who I am sure would be only to happy to advise you about shipping, customs etc.....

Post a pic of your first one when you get it:)

Yeah, I paid $341.95 for mine with shipping. So once you add $13 for priority shipping with insurance and 3% for paypal, you need $365 to break even. I've read here several times that Busse undervalues his knives about 20-30% of what the secondary market will be asking later. I don't know if that's true but thats another $60-$90+ but asking that much before the knife is pulled from the home site is a little crazy. Sounds to me like someone overspent... BTW I couldn't part with the NM SFNO. It's freakin' killer!

I used to be wary about shipping internationally but have tried it a few times and so far so good. Like others I assume, I've been trimming back my knife collection to focus on my firearms collection. For the last couple of sales I had, I was loosing a little money and even then the only buyers that were interested were international.

To date I have shipped to Taiwan and Poland to sellers on this forum. I made sure they understood the risks, carefully packed everything, showed them pics of the forms to make sure everything was filled out correctly, and shipped using USPS Global Express International. My package to Poland got there in only a few days, to Taiwan took a week. As long as the buyer is a frequent poster here on BF with good feedback I am happy to ship international.

I'm just going to throw this out there, and yes, I too am guilty of this - but charging a fee in order to use PayPal is against PayPal's TOS.

I know pretty much every other web forum I post on prohibits this behavior and clearly says so in their posting guidelines for their exchange.

When I joined here, the PayPal fees along with the "ownership" premium so many sellers apply to their knives were completely mind boggling. I've since gotten used to it, but I do think it's something that we should all be concerned about.

I'm sure not giving Paypal any money when I sell. I may have to at that other place that own's Paypal, but I've never sold a Busse there.

If we couldn't charge for our PP fee's then every one would have to take Money orders Only, or make a seperate thread with PP fee's add'ed in price.

I have never charged a Paypal fee due to their TOS. IMO, if you get a problem buyer they can screw you over royally by reporting that to Paypal, thus getting your account/funds frozen. A simple fix would be to do what the gas stations do, give a "cash" (I.E. Money order) discount. Include the fees in your asking price and knock off 3% + $0.30 off the price if they use MO.

I don't mind paying the extra fee's when I buy, however I don't like when the seller comes up with their own Paypal percentage. I've seen some threads where the seller charges 4-5% for paypal.
