I Don't Get the Para 3...

I'm fairly old but remember an old timer saying... There's lures that catch fish, and there's lures that catch fishermen.

Hah, it's still said and they still make both kinds. The majority are made to catch fishermen. ;)

I want to see one in person and feel in hand, but I have to admit I'm disappointed. The height of the blade (to accommodate the diameter of the hole) ruins the classic PM proportions . . . at least for me. At this point, i would greatly prefer a G-10 Delica, despite it having no compression lock. Until then, my Mantra remains my favorite Spyderco EDC knife.

I don't have any Spyderco knives, but I'm going to make the Para 3 my first one. At the price point of $120, this is a great value. I think it's awesome when a manufacturer stays closely in tune to listen to the feedback of their customer base and delivers. This offering is just that...and to have the CEO respond in a forum speaks volumes to how much he cares. Way to go Sal! You're a good man.

You don't have to "get" it. And, while it may appear to be "universally loved" on this forum, that's not quite true and I severely doubt it will be even "widely loved" by the general knife buying public. I know I have no love for it, but then I've never understood the appeal of the PM1 or PM2 either. For my money, all three have overly thick blades, overly bulky handles, and wrong handed locks.
While I must h prefer the manix and native, I just got a millitary and have had the pm 2, they all pretty much cut like the Dickens without having to compare them to other brands that don't do the FFG. And I like their sabre grinds for the Delica and Endura but there's no scientific background as to why.

This thread reminds me to put a UKPK on my list when they run anotjer batch with a different steel.

The handle on the Sage 3 is taller than the other Sage models.

Appreciate that. I didn't know that about the Sage 3. Think I'll start with the PM2.

Yeah, I tried it for that one reason, but the grip just never set well for me.
You mean the Sage 3 didn't work for you? I had the dumb idea to try out Sage's 1 to 4, hated the handle of each one and yet I went down the line and ordered the next one right after the other! Lol.
