Hossom is, I feel, an honest and talented individual. I do not see any reason for controversy. He reported and showed pitures of a test by another celebrity of the knife world. Where is the rub? Damage appears to be more a function of edge geometry than anything else and I want to say that acquiring a Hossom "Retribution" is high on my list of blade priorities which are the highest priorities of all.
