I got 2 new Infinity 10 inch subs!!!!!

False. You are attempting to make a valid assumption on my education or IQ when you do not know me, based on the fact that I bought a 5 dollar Confederate belt buckle. THAT shows YOUR maturity level and intelligence in making such a blanket statement and assuming everyone that owns Confederate memorabilia is uneducated.

Not to mention, "Southerness" ????? ANd you attack other people's IQ levels... Hmmmmm. Thanks for your enlightening inputs to this thread that have NOTHING to do with the topic.

southerness is a song by catherine irwin about the idiotic identification with the confed battle flag and not the true attributes of the south.....

no reconseed the fact is you have shown your ignorance in many other ways.... go back and read your own thread.

I am still enlisted. I work for my living. I teach various subjects when you cadets are on the ground up here (subject depends on what cycle). Great place to be and being Cadre is a fairly easy job compared to my primary MOS (21B) so I'm not complaining. My job is kind of like being a Drill SGT for cadets.

Ohhhh, I have heard of your kind :( haha. We have one enlisted soldier, SFC Brown in our battalion here and he is similar to what you do I would perceive. He drills us like crazy!!!

Valley, you really are ignorant.

1. Songs? When did I mention anything about a song regarding the South and its "true attributes" as you call it? Attribute meaning.... the South contributed something to the Union, right? The Confederacy stood for everything the South was. And to say the Confederate battle flag is a symbol of racism proves that you are an uneducated fool. But wait, you probably think the Civil War was fought over 'slavery,' right? hahaha....

2. Daniel Webster and dictionary.com don't recognize your word "southerness".

No results found for southerness.
Did you mean souther ness (in dictionary) or Southerners (in encyclopedia)?

I am really wasting my time debating a fool on BF about the word "southerness". I have read the thread. I started it. Thanks for reminding me.

Gentlebeings, remember we are in the Gadgets & Gear forum so we really ought to be talking about gadgets & gear, such as subwoofers, belt buckles, recoilless rifles ...

Curious minds want to know: are you employed? How did you earn the money to purchase your vehicle and stereo system? Or was the money given to you by your parents? Blowing a thousand dollars on a set of rather silly speakers that provide marginal acoustic quality (but make your trunk say "BOOM! BOOGA BOOGA BOOM!") seems rather frivolous to me. It is a poor investment, as they will net you expensive noise ordinance tickets until they eventually blow out. You do not seem to appreciate the value of a dollar.

Hi All-

reconseed, good luck with your new audio system. I opted for the best system offered by the factory for my car and it's been very nice and has about ten speakers in the vehicle.

Shadowblade, though I am not in any position to have to answer any of your questions, I thought what the heck... The $ I used to get my system put in is from my bank account. My parents put as much funding as I need in there for whatever I want to spend it on (nice things, taking girlfriends out, music, gadgets, and gear) . However, I am also employed. I am an Army cadet. We receive pay, a monthly stipend. As for my parents, I am blessed. My parents are financially stable enough to afford me nice things. (I got my Civic for Christmas a few years ago, if you were wondering where I got the car.) You are right about noise tickets. However, I have had some body work done to the interior of the vehicle to insure noise reduction outside the car. But thanks for keeping me on my toes. ;) As for my "value" of the dollar... I value the dollar as much as any man. I am just fortunate enough to where, if I see something that I really would like to have, 9 times outta 10, I can get it. I sense some angst on this thread from old-timers that are probably hard working Americans. God bless you all. The fact is this... I started this thread to show off my new subs and its turned into a thread bashing me, insulting me, etc.. Its fine though. I could really care less what internet forumites think of my $ or what I spend it on. Henceforth, I wont stoop to people like Rat Finkenstein's level and say things like "I hope you never have children." The man obviously has beef with me. But he still takes time to leave a message on the threads I post. I feel so honored.

Blue Jays - thanks man. What kind of car did you get? Did you get Infinity speakers or did it come with Bose by any chance? I have 6 other speakers in my Civic for mid and high end sound. I have 2 in the lower door panel, 2 6x9's in the back dash, and 2 small tweeters in the ceiling I had installed about 4 months ago. They put out great high end sound! They are Bose speakers. The Civic came with Alpine speakers and they sounded good, but I felt I needed a few more higher end 'high end' tweeters. Henceforth, the Bose are awesome for that! Now that I got my subs, it sounds better than ever. My next project is going to be a fold-out DVD player from the dash. I thought about getting a screen installed in my steering wheel but I cant really see a point in it other than for show.

Instead of thumpin' speakers, I would have saved the thousand dollars and put it towards a nicer car.
[snicker]

Can't laugh too loud though, I drive a Honda myself. :)

I respect the fact that you answered my question honestly, and of your own volition. You truly are blessed to have such generous parents. MY parents never gave me nuthin'. I work between 50 & 60 hours a week, and after the bills are paid -- and money set aside for necessary expenses -- I have about $100 a week in discretionary spending. Before my recent separation, my ex cleaned out the savings and maxed out the credit, so I am somewhat broke. I hope that explains my resentful attitude a bit.

Also, while I have nothing against the Confederate flag, that buckle is tacky.

Shadow, I am lucky. Very blessed. Many of my friends are in the same boat as you. One of my best friends mom sold him her car! That blew my mind. I have nothing against people who have to work for everything they have. In fact, I respect them. I just hate it when people, a few of my buddies, knock me for having well-to-do parents that allow me to have many nice things. I am also sad to hear of your separation from your wife/girl, whatever. I recently ended a 3 year relationship with my x-gf. But she wont go away completely!!! Still getting the emails, im's, etc.. As for the Confederate belt buckle... I will just say this, if my father saw me wearing that in public, I would be in some deep ____ !!! Dont even ask what my mom would say... They, like you have nothing against it and love the South. However, you and they both are correct, it is tacky to wear. I am not going to wear it. I bought it as Confederate memorabilia. I have a few CSA battle flags, that belt buckle, some pins, buttons, old CSA currency, etc.. Just a collector. (thats why in that picture I didnt have it ON my belt ;)) Anyways, no hard feelings for your comment. Hope everything gets better with your X. I am in the same boat, collectively, I would suspect.

Bob - Oh how could you EVER knock a Honda!!! ;) They are the best, IMO, as far as economical driving goes... They last forever if you drive them right and keep them serviced. My dad has 4 of them and they are all still kicking! (one of them is a 89 model!!!) As for picking, I didnt get that much freedom! I woke up Christmas morning and the thing was in the South garage on the back end of my parents' home, with a huge bow on it! I didnt tell him that I wanted something else! I was VERY grateful for THIS car. Its very nice, as far as I am concerned.

I'd toss the buckle in the trash, as it is ugly and has zero value. If you want a Confederate buckle, find yourself one of the brass "CSA" buckles . . . it'll look better. And your flags are probably shiny polyester, aren't they?

Congrats on the money, congrats on the car, congrats on the speakers.....blah blah blah.
Word of advice-
Reality is going to come crashing down on you before too long. Right now you have it made (or so your attitude portrays you) Nothing wrong with that. In a short time, you will *not* have it made. You will do the most thankless work for not a whole lot of coin. Nothing wrong with that either.....I've been doing it for awhile. But here's where the reality part kicks in. As an Officer, you will be charged with keeping alot of people alive. I don't see Iraq, the 'Ghan or various other hot spots going away in the near future. Don't delude yourself, within one year of you pinning on that shiny little bar, you're gonna be on a plane. I'd bet money on it.
Your attitude here on the forums makes me a little concerned about that. I understand that it's the *internet* and I don't know you very well/at all, but from what I've seen........don't know that I'd trust you much (not that I trust an LT much anyhow, lol)
Ah heck....it's late, I've drank too much and now I'm rambling.
My 2 cents to you.....pick admin/jag/finance etc. Stay out of the line units untill you grow up a little.

Bob - Oh how could you EVER knock a Honda!!! They are the best, IMO, as far as economical driving goes...
Yeah, my '02 Honda gets about the same mileage as my '94 Lincoln. Only Lincolns are better rated for reliability. They don't make a convertible Lincoln though, and that's the most important thing!

Later,
-Bob
