You claim to need a knife to defend on your person. So you won't have it to and from school?
I don't really care what you do-You asked for advice and I think you will get yourself killed, trying to fight back with a knife against the type people that prey on young boys in a large crime ridden city. No way I'd say anything else to anybody of your age. Ideally one of the small powerful easily concealed pistols would be what anyone would need. Be a long while before you can even think of the carry of that.
I carry knives and guns with me almost 100% of the time. But, I don't live where you do. I'm way out in the sticks and plan on sticking in the sticks, for good. To tell the truth I hate the big city and hardly ever go into one. (don't envy anyone that lives there)
If you are telling the truth about all that happened to you, I wish you luck staying alive and try to stay away from trouble. Use your head first and if don't be too quick to fight back against older guys. If you stay alive for a few more years you will benefit from more knowledge and maybe be able to defend yourself and loved ones with much more effective means.
BTW- there's more than one mistake in your post above.:)
 
I do not take orders from a 14 year old kid with personal disorder. Period!
I do not take orders from parents that recommend a 14 to carry a knife. Period!
Maybe I should send Super Nanny on you :)

Firstly, thanks for pointing those errors out jill. By the way, you have quite a few errors in your last post. Second, nodh, when did I when did I ever order you to do anything?

I know they breed arguments, its just that at 16 posts I was not arguing with other forum people. By the way, your quote on quote did not include 16 posts. ;)
 
Vanc99- Face it there are a lot of jerks on BF. And it does not get any better in the W+S. My recommendation to you is to look at the knives that people recommended, and get out of this thread, because there is no win-win situation here, if you know what I mean.

This is from the same link jill pointed out, so from a legal standpoint you are in the clear. My suggestion is to get the knives suggested and an extendable baton, but use your head: don't take uneccesary risks and DON'T use the knife in self defence unless it is imperitive. Okay time to go off topic for a little. What kind of dum*** legeslators make laws forbiding pepper spray and other nonlethal weapons, thats just giving the criminals a reason to go after people. I can sort of see the logic however flawed in forbiding lethal weapons completely, but a weapon designed not to kill.... hmm doesn't seem right now, does it?
 
I am no jerk. I have raised 3 children with one still in high school. One works at the professional level at the premiere theatre locally as a sound/lighting tech, the other is in grad school at Columbia. Gerber blades, maybe you should just email this fella you seem to have so much good advice for him. Would save alot of consterenation me thinks with this thread. You seem to be in the minority here as to what and how he should carry a knife and what knife. I don't get it at all. The kid is 14 so he says, his mother is encouraging him or giving her approval of him carrying a knife to school and for s.d. As an older adult that has been around the track a bit I don't understand how one could give this advice so readily and without question to a 14 year old, if indeed that is the case. I know for a fact if anyone anywhere gave advice to my son who is 16 on a weapon to carry they would most definetly be answering to me face to face. I said it once and I'll say it again there is nothing at all to be gained by this bullshit of telling a 14 year old how to arm himself with a knife.

your just a mall-ninja liar. are you trying to make harder knife laws for the people the people who use them for what they are. (tools) Do you want to make knife laws as strict as gun laws? As for your little story about getting attacked in the subway, I dont believe a word. there is no way ten other people would not confirm your story. If you were realy desperate for sd you would use pepper spray, not a pen knife.

All I can say is I would carry a knife to for S.D as well if I had a mouth like yours. :D Express your self properly and give people the respect they deserve and you will get it back. You asked the question and everyone responded accordingly. Don't ask the question if you aren't strong enough to hear peoples opinions.

Thank you, however I would point out that I asked for a knife recommendation, not for claims that I couldn't possibly be 14 years old, or parenting beliefs. Whatever, my beliefs have not changed, but I have gotten some good knife advice.
 
this is directed at no one imparticular, but how come this didnt get moved to "Prac-Tac"? esspecially when it went down hill after, what, post 2 or 3?
 
VanC99, I have carried a knife since I was 11, and I grew-up in a country atmosphere. My knife never went to school with me, and I learned that martial arts and good old common sense will serve you much better than a weapon, not to mention keep you out of less troubles with the law.

I would love to have your allowance, and if Subway is paying that well, what am I doing working so hard. A sebbie at 14!!!!

Carry a small non-threatening pocket knife for tool use only if you must, and learn to use your head and your hands.
