Ahhhhh, my mom was looking for a duster in my desk when she stumbled on my drawer. (Calypso Jr, LST, KFF and a SAK)Then she cut herself on the Calypso. Now, she thinks I'm a killer and all knives are weapons. I'm in soo deep s***. ::sighh
She got cut when she tried closing it, but she didnt know about LOCKBACKs. (she still has it hidden somewhere, OPEN) I told her, well you have kitchen knives.. She said, they're a different kind. (in my mind I was thinking, both have a handle both have an edge, same thing)
Children shouldn't play with dead or sharp things, just kidding GB, you have a long road in front of you, a couple of more years and she won't be able to do that.
Try to make her understand they are tools not weapons, and that it was her who was not careful, not you, good luck.
That's sad--she went into your drawer and opened one of your knives and cut herself and it's too dangerous for you to have? I think you should confiscate them back and tell her that she's not responsible enough to be using sharp objects and that until she grows up she should give them to you to hold .
What kind of a relationship do you have have with your parents? Do they trust you and respect your ability to make good choices? Have you shown yourself to be responsible? Are your parents open to discussing things like this with you or are their minds closed?
Did they know that you had knives or is this something that you hid from them?
Also, the knifes are OPEN somewhere, because she can't close them.
I hid them from my mom, but my dad, we talked about them with enthusiasm. (he had a fixed blade made from high speed steel) I thought it would be ok if I had one too, guess not
Man how the world has changed, when I was 16 we used take our 22s down to the tracks and go huntin' and shootin' in the claypits, now ya say what's strange about that? Nuthin 'cept I grew up in Fords NJ and the Claypits were Rts. 287/440 heading into Staten Island, just a hop skip and a jump from Manhattan.
Now our parents didn't worry that we'd cut ourselves, they worried that we might get shot or run over.
Brings a smile to my lips.
My Mom would toss any knife that I got down the incinerator. We lived in projects.
The knives were smaller than SAK keychain types.
We once moved to another apartment and left behind was a Japanese Arisaka Carbine. Taller than I was at the time.
One day I came home and she told me she gave it to the junk man.
sigh
Now I have knives and guns galore and I always tell her it's cause of the childhood trauma she inficted.
hahahaha
Do try to at least get them closed.
Tell her how dear thewy are and how much they cost.
Mom can send them to me till she thinks you should have them.
Tom
Man. I can see it now. Your mom's hemoglobin is smeared all on the side of the tang, caked on the blade, on the handle. It's staining the surface eating away at the steel..
Hope you get them back. My mom knows about mine, and while she thinks they're superfluous she wouldn't take them away.
I know how you feel. While my parents knew I had a bunch of knives, they weren't exactly supportive. My dad did comment once that my knife was cool haha. They told me the most ridiculous, assinine things about pocket knives. How if I'm ever depressed or angry I might use these "weapons" against a family member or myself. Well, maybe just the Vanquero Grande! And I wasn't ever a violent crazy teenager either. When they tried discussing it with me, in the kitchen, I told them we were in a room surrounded by knives, larger then any pocket knives I own. It's pretty stupid, parents can be pretty f-cking annoying sometimes, well, most of the time.
Now that I'm away for school I get to play with all my toys whenever I want I could understand how the balisongs clicking all day could get on someone's nerves though
My first knife when I was 7 was a blue boy scout SAK with 2 blades. The day my mom gave it to me she cut herself on it, pretty funny. She never made a bad point out of that, her mistake. She used to like camping and had a SAK Hiker so she knows better. And now, she has no say about my knives, how ever many of them I own Show her they server a purpose, you can keep it in your pocket easier than a pair of scissors and so on.... GL.
Is your dad willing to take a shot at helping you out here? He could turn out to be a good ally to have in this situation. It sounds like you need all the help you can get.
Sorry to hear about your situation. I still own four knives my Mom bought me when I was your age (two cases, a buck, and a camilus), maybe younger. I can even remember playing with a sak at much younger age. Good luck.
