I had a great day on the water, guess how many fish I caught GAW

Rather than googlemaps I thought I would ask ...at risk of appearing stupid...fairly safe bet....all you American Lakes afficionados...is there actually a Lake Wazapamani ? Like in the Blues Bros...?

About 1978. My Peeps (I was the photog). Channel cat, wayyy too much beer, mosquitoes, canoes, tents, more beer, more mosquitoes. These were a few but we had more, maybe about 80 pounds or so over a couple days. Willow poles and setlines, cut bait, frogs, whatever. Run the Musselshell in canoes to check the lines. Fond memories.View attachment 1338349

I think I know where that place is :)
When we first got married we moved to Keene Texas. I studied nursing at Hill College in Cleburne.
My new wife and I went a few times there to check the dinosaurs prints and sit in the cool water.
What’s the name of the place ? After 25 years we can’t remember
It’s the Paluxy River, the state park is dinosaur valley.

Back at it today and I can finally say FISH HAVE BEEN CAUGHT!!!! Released everything so far, but I’m keeping count.

Several years ago I spent a summer at Grandads in NE Montana. I regularly helped his buddy pull in catfish off the Milk River with some trot lines. That was also my first exposure to Rainier beer, now I see Rainier every clear day from my house:D

.....and seriously, how hard is it to give a knife away??? My daughter and I fished a completely different lake today for Silvers, landlocked Coho salmon. They don’t get massive but they taste good and are fun to catch. Today we brought home 5, the limit for both of us would be 10. She caught 12 and I caught 8. I went back and looked at every entry twice and NOBODY picked 8:mad::mad: So it goes....on to the next trip. meako meako theres still hope!!!

I didn't participate because I was very disappointed to discover that even though my graduate research had centered around human relationships with salmon, I actually didn't have any photos of fish or me with fish on my phone or google photos archive! I was so disappointed with myself.

So now that the GAW is over, I thought I would share a map that I made of where my research indicated that there were salmon during the Last Glacial Maximum, roughly 20,000 years ago. I had a lot of fun doing years of research trying to understand what the world looked like 20,000 years ago, and where the fish were. In the end, my years of work didn't actually lead me to finding any submerged archaeological sites, but like your good day on the water, the experience was still worth it.
