I hate you people! And so does my wife.

You my friend have excellent taste! :) I have all of those as well but for whatever reason have not done a group shot like that! I know what I'll be doing after work lol.

Thanks JK, I have more now, but need to get them out for a pic.

You can show him what he might want to spend his next dollars on!

Wow Mark, showing those, that's like having a beer t shirt on while dropping a buddy off to an AA meeting.:D

We might enable just a tad:D

You can still participate without spending a lot of money. Some of my favorite knives were in the $20 to $40 range. Here are a few:

Buck 301 Stockman:

Victorinox Alox Electrician:

Case Peanut:

Two of my top favorites - Case Small Texas Jack and Victorinox Alox Cadet:

John,
You are right, there are a lot of good traditional knives out there for not a whole lot of money. Another option is local auctions, antique shops and flea markets, you can get great deals on vintage knives and the looking is fun.
Found this NIB Scrade at auction for under 20 bucks.

I just tell the wife it's cheaper than the guns I was buying, good luck, you are going to need it:D

That's exactly my logic. Although I find that unless you are buying CRK or Case, the value doesn't hold or increase like guns do.

My wife isn't too crazy about my new collection either... As if the guns and hunting gear weren't enough *sigh* Now I'm collecting knives.

Having come about this new fetish one thing strikes me... Makers of traditional knives are doing a crap job of advertising.

I mean, I've been a knife person since I was a small child. I love both types of folders, traditional and modern. Kershaw, Benchmades, and Spyderco are inescapable if you're a knife person in even the tiniest way. Let alone the box store garbage you see everywhere. I had no idea however that anyone other than Schrade and Buck were still making traditionals. Well, them and folks like TA Davison.

They don't seem to be having any trouble selling out, but you'd think a knife nut would've known about GEC and Northwoods(You're a bastard. You know who you are.) before now.

In response to post #34

I've been to a few gun/knife shows and the folks "selling" knives always say the same thing, "GEC is to young to be considered collectable or reputable yet." I just laugh and feel ahead of the curve. They know of GEC bc most are members of other forums I wont mention, but bc/ they have such a large stock of Case and others, they push those on the lookers.

I honestly like that GEC is smaller and not "over" marketed.

Oh, I knew of Case too of course. Lol. Their F&F is so hit and miss though I never consider them.
