I have a question for you all.

None..never was a pattern I took to. Like small pen blades though. Just prefer them on longer frames

Okay, I have to ask this.

I've been wondering for a while now, and 'I gots ta know' who here does not have a peanut?

Come on, fess up and don't make me break out the rubber chicken!
:D

Oh, and if you do have one, feel free to post some peanut porn.

Carl.

Busted.

If ya don't have a peanut get one! There are some nice ones so far in this thread, here's the peanut pic I have handy.

I have a few. I put one in my watch pocket from time to time and try to like it. So far, no such luck. It seems to be about a quarter inch too short for my comfort zone.

Sweden dont have the climate for peanuts.... I confess my only curiosity of that pattern is your storys. As hard it is to get slipjoints this way I aim for a little bigger knifes. That said my curent edc rotation is a case medium stockman, a case small trapper. a case scout jr and a sodbuster jr. I think I would like a jack in the 3 1/4 sice but as small as the peanut I doubt I will ever go

I have a Peanut, and I lay the blame squarely at the feet of Rob

Also Dave at Northwood gifted me peanut (long story)

(I also purchased a Case Yella in carbon)

I usually carry two knives. One, a larger work knife like a RAT 1, JYDII, Shallot, etc., clipped to my pocket.

In my pocket, I usually have my CASE peanut with nice amber bone, or an inexpensive Remington gifted to me at Christmas. Both are kept nasty sharp, with the small spear point stropped since I use it to "V" cut my cigars.

The larger blade is kept pointy and sharp to be used for on site surgery to pick out splinters from fingers, slice out the larger ones, and to sharpen toothpicks to clean nozzles on my spray equipment.

They are small enough I forget they are in my pocket until I need them.

So far as I know I don't own a peanut. I prefer medium to large knives, have large hands & I've just assumed they'd be too small & fiddly to me. I have a Case tiny trapper that falls in the 'fiddly' category for e.g.

I have a Peanut. A Case Bonestag in SS. I used to have a brown jigged delrin "working" series peanut as well. Good, hard working knife. Mine has done things much bigger knives would have a hard time doing. The boxy frame on these make up for their short handles, and the ultra thin blades that get scalpel sharp make up for the short blades. I haven't carried mine ever since my Vic Classic took over it's role, but it truly is a great, do-all knife.

I don't have one either - my smallest knife is a Schrade 80T and I don't carry it much. I've even got one of the Case Swayback Jacks that I just can't get into at 3 1/4 inches. Guess I prefer a bit bigger too.

I own a Winchester Peanut, stag, carbon steel, a 50's vintage. No pictures right now. I know nothing about Winchesters but have been offered what I consider a fair amount for it considering it is a production knife. Got it at a gun show years ago along with a solid copper and brass Winchester flashlight.

Obtained this Alsdorf rendition of a Peanut recently. I confess my ignorance concerning the pattern but they are very different beyond the overall size. The Winchester is two bladed. The Alsdorf being a bit larger at 2 7/8" closed.

I have carried the Winchester on and off over the years and find it to be just about right for carry when wearing a suit. You really don't know it is there.

Been collecting production and custom peanuts for years now, (40+). Here is one of my latest by Don Morrow.

Slightly different pattern by Tony Bose, based on the Remington pattern, I believe.

Believe me, Tony's peanut will never leave my family.

Wow, not many of the faithful here. I'm starting to think of the St. Crispan's day speach from Henry the 5th; "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers."

Henry didn't have many with him either. Oh well.

Carl.

Or perhaps Et tu, Brute ? ;) :)

The Nuts are a bit small, I'm always scared I'll lose one so don't carry them very much. They can cost you £50 over here
I think you should be able to buy Nut extenders, like the extenders you can get for pencil stubs.

Unfortunately i don't have any kind of traditional american style knife :( I'll have to fix it soon

I have seven peanuts. One old Western, two Schrades and four Case peanuts. I had not carried one of them for along time. I had dropped one of the Schrades into my pocket a couple of days before this thread started. I have been carrying it since then.
I am tall with large hands. Long fingers, wide palms, maybe a little thin. I really like larger knives and usually carry a full sized trapper. The peanut isn't to bad tho for it's size. It is fairly comfortably to use for little jobs plus I do really like the look of them.

I have one peanut which was a gift from another forum member and thus has a special place in my collection.

That said, I'm just not really a "peanut" guy when it comes to carrying/using.

I much prefer a small single blade knife on the order of 3 1/4 to 3 3/8" if I want one for town (or environs where a larger knife might look out of place).

I don't doubt the ability or utility of the peanut, it's just not my cup of tea...

(...Which kind of reminds me of the scene in "Open Range" where Charley Waite couldn't put his fingers through the handle of a dainty teacup. I prefer something that I can wrap my hand around.)
