Check this out fella's (and the make ladies versions).
I have been wearing the same pair of underwear for the last month straight. They are the ExOfficio Boxer Briefs (as seen HERE on REI). The claim that is made on the package is that you can wash them at night (while out camping with a water alone or a little soap) ring them out, let them dry overnight, and wear them the next day. I decided to test that. So I wore them to work, wore them on an weekend hiking excursion (10 miles or so), wore them around the house, wore then out with my wife, and in between. I washed them with my shower at night, I used a little bar soap, rinsed them, and then hung them out to dry.
I wear a boxer brief and worry a lot about chafing when hiking (due to past experience) on my inner thighs. I normally wear a cotton boxer brief but they tend to get wet, don't wick, and then bunch up.
I know what your thinking - what the hell are you doing reviewing a pair of underwear for the WSS forum? Here is my thought. If you only had your BOB and it had a pair of these in it - would they be an asset. I think they would be. Let me explain.
I experienced no chafing while out hiking, no smell after cleaning, the anti-bacterial finish helped keep odor down, wicked away sweat, and frankly have been the most comfortable pair of underwear I have worn. On humid nights when they were still damp - I tossed them on and they dried really quickly. When I had a weekend hike - I actually felt comfortable in my underwear for perhaps the first time ever.
I love these for the idea that I can pack on or two pair (they are very light) in a long range hike and not worry about replenishing my supply.
They ARE expensive (one pair costs about the same as a half dozen other underwear) but if I had to choose one pair to have in a BOB - these would be it.
I know this is an odd review - but I thought I would pass them on.
