It was ZDP. I knew the steel would be so hard that chipping would be possible if abused, but I never thought it would be that easy to do on accident. They were very small chips, but definitely noticeable when you looked closely. My mom is 80 and saw them right away. I would also not recommend cutting cardboard because it puts blemishes in the blade finish.

Congrats!!! I wouldn't worry too much about said "blemishes". Anything that gets used will show wear eventually;)

It will stay nice and shiny. I promise you that the mirror polish won't magically turn into stonewashed from cutting cardboard.

That certainly sucks! However, that can happen on just about any knife. It's just unfortunate on a Rocky due to the zero-grind.
