I just ordered the new CKF Kadat

I love the irony of Will Moon talking about "tolerances" and "quality" when I have personal experience with his garbage knives that have worse fit and finish than literally every ZT, Kizer, or Spyderco I have ever owned. I've had Bokers and Kershaws that were better put together than the $1300 knife I bought directly from him that took him 8 months to ship despite being already constructed and he didn't even do any of the work on it he promised he would do (just re-anodizing the handle, IIRC)

ANYWAY

I really just came in here to say that I really like the exposed look of the pivot. That's really cool. Nothing else really stands out to me on this knife - materials, blade shape, etc - but that pivot is pretty neat.

Pretty much agree, but also think the zirconium backspacer is killer looking with its unique internal lanyard post and discreet CKF logo. Pretty cool pocketclip too.

Trying REALLY hard not to buy this one....trying to save for a Hoback Tradecraft Auto.....

This thing is just killer. I love the exposed pivot, the clip/backspacer situation, and of course the 4"+ blade. I'm soooo tired of 3-3.5" blades. Big fan of big folders.

I am just thankful that no one has done an in-depth review of this one yet. I'd of already bought it.

That's a tank commander's knife:)

I messed up pivot on my ckf gratch and was mailed new one from them, had to pay shipping only. Good company.

OP here - Here's the short and full story on my Kadat: The knife arrived (surprisingly quickly as compared to other orders from CKF - less than two weeks). It was bigger than I liked - I knew the dimensions when I ordered it, but thought I'd be ok with it being a bit longer than I prefer. The first time I flipped it, the flipper tab cut my finger (both edges of the tab were very sharp). I've never had anything like that happen before. I assume that it was an unfortunate QC thing. I'm sure I could have remedied the issue very easily, or gotten a replacement. Since I knew it was too long for my taste anyway, I returned it to CKF's agent in the US and was refunded within 24 hours. I bought a Morff 5 instead and love it. It's my fourth version of the Morff, so...

I just wanted to add my input after handling this knife at BHQ. The first thing I instantly noticed was that the flipper tab is maybe the worst I've ever seen on any knife. Which sucks because everything else about this one is right up my alley. I wanted to love it.
The hole size and position when closed makes it kinda tricky to flick open, but man, you'll much prefer that method over trying to use the flipper.

It's almost like an arrowhead or the tip of a spear. Every angle that it could be sharpened, it is. It wouldn't be so bad if the flipper tab itself were angled back a bit more, like the profile shape of the number 7 . At least that would allow more leverage on the flipper. Currently it's oriented more like a "greater than" symbol, like > and it's pointy / angled .

Such a miss on an otherwise really cool large folder
