I lost my entire collection.

Unfortunately, unless they are unique or otherwise marked, even if he does find them, proving they are his will be difficult.

That's a shame. It's too bad that you took the entire collection with you... I can understand why but I wish you'd only taken a few of them (not even my collection but I wish that because I feel for ya).

I have one USPS shipping box left from when I PiF'ed a few things a couple months back... if you ever give details about what was in your collection and I happen to have [x model] in your collection I can try to send it to you... lots of snow here and that hinders my ability to get to the post in a timely manner though, I;m afraid.

Finally I lost my knife collection in the stupidest way possible which is why I was reluctant to share.

I lost them trying to sell some to a friend. I was short on cash and he was interested in a few so I packed em up with me to bring over to his place. What I did was I set them in the back of my Dads truck to go get something from the house and when I came back they were gone. End of story.

You aren't the first man to ever do something like that and if some criminal hadn't helped himself to your property you would of walked back outside and they would have been there. I am sure that you won't be doing that again.

Sorry that it happened to you. Do cruise the pawn shops in your area and with your dad being a police Officer if you see a few that are your models that just came into the pawn shop I think you have a good chance of the pawn broker surrending them to your father.

Most of the time stuff like that isn't taken to a pawn shop, whoever took them will keep the ones he wants and sell the rest amongst his criminal buddies for $10 a pop. With such a small collection it's not like its going to require taking them someplace dangerous to sell them (dangerous as in likely to get busted), your collection of knives will be divided up in the pockets of low level petty thieves within one day.

Hate to be blunt just don't want to mislead you that there's anything that can be dome watching craigslist or pawnshops, sorry son your shit's jacked. I feel bad, again just don't want to give you all false hope, life's hard and your a kid. News flash: it only gets harder from here.

Good luck with your future collecting. Learn from this mistake.

That's awfully kind of you but I'd feel too bad mooching off your collection, even if you offered it first.

OK....So if you are not trying to score a free knife...then what? Sorry about your stuff getting nicked, but it happens. I'm not sure where you want us to go with either of your threads on the subject.

I guess now it's a lesson learned. Maybe someone younger will come along and see this and be more careful than I was.

Don't think you lost your knives because you were young...you lost them because you were careless. But hey, you are correct, maybe somebody was going to leave their knives overnight on the corner in a box that has "Please don't steal...expensive stuff" written on it in big letters, and now they will think twice about it! :D

Again...sorry about your stuff. Hope your dad and local LEOs track them down. Live and learn. Hopefully whoever lifted them is now not using any for armed crime.

So my last post was about me losing my collection and I didn't specify how. This mistake lol led to some fun accusations. It ranged from a psycho ex wife (which I don't have), getting drunk and having them stolen by a one night stand (also not true), a shifty drug deal gone wrong (sober since birth), or my "mommy" took them and my pr0n with them too.

Firstly my pr0n is safe and sound hahaha. Just kidding don't care for the stuff.

Secondly my parents are aware and are indifferent to my knife collection. They really could care less about what I collect as log as it isn't illegal.

Finally I lost my knife collection in the stupidest way possible which is why I was reluctant to share.

By the way one quick note, while I can't really speak for everyone here... for me personally, I don't care if you were using your entire collection in a traveling Rube Goldberg invention that also involved a giant sneezing duck and a pair of conjoined koala bears... no matter how you might lose your collection, there's really nothing funny about losing your entire knife collection, to me. It's one of the most un-funny things I can think of, and I'm willing to bet what with us all being enthusiasts here, most others would agree with me on that point. So honestly, don't be afraid to tell us stuff like what happened to you. If you really lose your entire collection and it's worth upwards of $600, I don't think many people here are going to be laughing about it.

I guess now it's a lesson learned. Maybe someone younger will come along and see this and be more careful than I was.

Also...I can't help wondering...if you wanted to share a cautionary tale....why didn't you say what happened in the first place? (The other thread you made on the subject.)

Until you were dragged over the coals in that one (and then opened this one)....the only advice you were sharing was "Hey...don't get your knives stolen!"

Anyhoo...I'm sure we will all try to not have our stuff stolen. :o

It would be tough to loose my entire collection unless my house burnt down. I doubt even a thief could find them all as I can't find them all either. :D

Lost from the back of a pickup.... that's sad. Somebody broke the golden rule, unless it was your Dad teaching you a lesson.

Replace the stuff you like the best or upgrade since you probably have a better idea of what you like now.

Truth is, he didn't pay his hooker bills so the pimp came and took all his stuff.

all jokes aside (and some were pretty comical), I feel your pain. years ago I had about half of my collection stolen when my duplex was broken into. a couple were sentimental and the rest were just knives I had picked up thru the years. I hope you get lucky and your old man tracks em down for ya. if not, do what I did....sit down and make a list of what was stolen, then decide which ones you would buy again and which ones you wont. my experience really lit a fire under my ass, so I took on all the extra hours at work that I could for extra $$$ and I ended up with a better collection because of it. im sorry this happened to you, theres always gonna be douchebags out there, and im sure you learned an expensive lesson from it.

There are always douchebags out there, you have to just take what you learn from dealing with them and learn how to counter it from that experience.

I know of a nursing student who had her laptop stolen from her car, the thief smashed a the car window and swiped the laptop. Laptop and window while valuable and took quite a bit of money to replace, it was the years worth of nursing notes that was mourned as those were priceless and made nursing school a lot harder without. I think I setup a dropbox account on her next laptop as a counter to that so she have a constant backup. Another nursing student who practically lives at a coffee shop (most I know seem to) left her brand new macbook unintended for a couple minutes to use the restroom and came back with it missing, someone stole it in front of everyone and no one did anything. I am willing to bet she won't do that ever again.

Really, my knives being stolen is one of my greatest fears. I don't even show my knife collection to my sons' friends. I always worry that one of the friends may tell another friend, and then someone will know what's available for taking.

I've gotten a security system, though, and that has helped aleviate a majority of the fear. I just have to remember to set the alarm when I leave.

Sorry for your loss. It's a terrible pain to lose that much treasure.

The good thing is that you are still young, and have all the time in the world to build up another collection.

Learn from your mistake and it is no longer a mistake, but a lesson.

I think you are taking this pretty well. Im so sorry for your loss, I would have lost my $h*t should that happen to me.

Look on the bright side, you could have made that mistake much later in life with a much more advanced, expensive and potentially sentimental loss but have avoided it with this instance. And like you said, other will learn from you sharing this as well. I, personally, will be splitting my collection that stays home into smaller groups so that (god forbid) a home invasion occurs it won't be a total loss. And for that lesson i thank you!

Anyway what's your first new knife gonna be?

I've got a great idea!! Why don't we all (adults) act like a pack of d*cks and pile on this kid. We've all done similar things in our youth, so quit acting all "grown up" and superior. Its doing nothing but confirming what he already feels, that he must be a dumba$$. To OP, look past this and learn from it. Nothing more can be asked of you. And yes, life can be hard, but remember, it is even harder if you're stupid. Learn from your mistakes, but realize you ARE going to make them. Just try and minimize them as best you can.
