I lost my Sebenza today

Sorry for the bad juju man. Good luck finding your lost comrade.

Damn - if I was working on a ranch I'd carry a couple Opinels and maybe, just maybe a ZT.

I work in an office and usually have a Kershaw Chive in my watch pocket, and something else in my back pocket. It had been a Cryo up to yesterday - now I am giving a Griptilian with Wilkins scales some carry time. Sometimes I will put a ZT (0301 or 0200) in my coat pocket. But being a keyboard jockey I rarely have occasion to use any knife at work.

So sorry to hear about this. Big Prayers in hoping you stumble upon it today.....:thumbdn::thumbdn:

Its not just any knife, Its a Chris Reeve Knife...!!!

At least you know it is on familiar property. I hope there isn't any chance another person could have stumbled upon it. Check those hay bails, it might be hanging off one still:) I am going to put it out in the universe that you will find it today! Good luck!

That is gut wrenching. I lost a very special large Sebenza and I was sick to my stomach for a week. Luckily, my son found it in the crack of the seat in my truck. Good luck and hope it turns up.

Wish you best of luck in finding it. Know it is a sick feeling, personally life is too darn short, would have to get another.

Hope it turns up. You can also rent metal detectors sometimes... I thought I lost my Sebenza once. Came out of the woods after hunting all day. It was gone when I checked for it. I had a few moments of panic before I realized it had somehow come unclipped and had slid down through a hole in the bottom of my pocket into the top of my boot. Good luck!

That sucks man, crossing my fingers for ya. Like alot of other guys have said, get your hands on a metal detector, should be a relatively easy find with one.

I think I know someone with a metal detector and if not I'm sure I can locate one through a friend of a friend sort of deal (one of the few benefits of a small rural area). The bad news is its raining today, so it'll have to wait till tomorrow before I can really get out there and find it. It's a terrible feeling losing it- I selected a large Sebenza as my true everyday knife because I felt like I could comfortably take it to the office and that it could handle itself in any normal situations. I think though even if I find do find it I may have to invest something bigger and heavier for outdoors work. I may have to buy a ZT or maybe even a fixed blade and not carry the Sebenza every day as sad as it makes me.

Man, I hate hearing this. I lost a very nice wedding band before(marriage didn't last anyway) and a few other things, but I've been very lucky with knives. I've lost a couple but found them.

If you know its in the field and the grass/weeds aren't very high I wouldn't give up. Maybe the metal detector will work.
I dropped a small slipjoint in the yard late one evening and couldn't find it. Went back out with a very bright flashlight when it got dark and I found it. Good luck.

Just want to comment on the recommendations suggesting using a holster to carry a folding knife: isn't missing the point of a folding knife? (sorry;-) A folding knife's reason for existence, is to allow one to discretely and conveniently carry a blade. Otherwise one is better off with a small fixed blade, especially when working in an environment where 'carrying' on your hip is not going to offend anyone. I have a new Wilson Combat CUB in the mail for this very purpose, complete with a versatile Kydex sheath. It can be deployed and re-sheathed in moments, which is what you need when using your knife to do any sort of work. I looked hard at a similar offering from Knife Art as well.
Other posts to this thread suggest using a lanyard, which will make knife even more prone to snagging on things and potentially getting lost.
No doubt you will replace your Seb. if you don't find it. If you have not seen the Emerson knives take a look... real work horses, deploy quickly thanks to the 'Wave' feature, and cost half as much as a Seb. Save the Seb. for 'best'...

I've been testing it out a sheath I got for my small Sebenza recently. I had some reservations for the reasons you mention.

However, it allows for horizontal carry, which is more discrete than vertical. I suspect most would think it is a cell phone case if they notice it at all. The sheath, like my belt, is black, so it tends to blend in. It certainly won't attract the attention that a fixed blade would.

It's not as readily accessed as on a pocket clip, but it is faster than fishing it out of the bottom of my pocket. I've actually given up on using the pocket clip on the small Sebenza because I find it rides up and pops out of my pocket too often, particularly in the car. I doubt it would be a problem with a large Sebenza, though.

That said, if I worked on a ranch or similar, I would carry a fixed blade.

To NjHart, good luck! It's heart breaking losing something like this. I think the guys who were suggesting flashlights are on to something. I was just playing around with my Seb and a flashlight in my dark apartment. The screws and spine of the blade reflect really well.

Thanks for reminding me why I decided long ago never to carry a knife clipped to my person. I sincerely hope you find your Sebenza soon.

So sorry man. I'd be devastated..... I was so afraid of loosing mine so I ended up getting a sheath for mine and keeping the whole thing in my pocket. Might be a good option in the future. Hope you find it!!!

At least it sounds like its on your property and was not lost in your travels if you were out and about.
You don't have to worry about a stranger picking it up and keeping it.
It would drive me nuts to not even know where I may have lost it.
Good luck in your search and positive vibes sent your way.

If you have a cutting job that is too heavy for a large Sebenza, you're probably better off using a fixed blade--other folders may be heavier, but they won't be that much stronger. Hope it turns up.
