I lost my wife

My sincere condolences. If you don't have one, consider getting a pet. They are a great cure for loneliness.
I have 2 cats that are getting extra petting & scratches lately. Patty bugged me for a puppy for the past 20 years, but I said we didn't have the space or time for it. Her son Jamie got a Husky puppy while she was in the hospital & showed her a pic of her. She was happy, but unfortunately, she passed three days later so she never got to meet Stormy. This is so hard to write....

Thank you all for your comforting words

I lost my parents a couple of years back and I had been their primary care giver for years. It’s amazing how much time and effort these deteriorating conditions require. When it was over I had play catchup on my own care and to work on getting my routine back together again. For me it was time to catch up with my doctors, family and friends, which was followed about a year later with my first real vacation in years.

Give it time. It is not going to heal all wounds but you will feel better after you get back into a more stable state.

In 2019 at 50 years old I was in the best shape of my life. When she had her first heart attack 3 years ago, I started slacking on my health. Stopped going to the gym & started drinking a lot. I got fat & so out of shape. I still drink myself to sleep every night. I know I need to stop, but it makes me numb & all of this somewhat manageable. I'm sorry about your parents & what you had to go through.

I was going through her purse today & found the knives I got her. She didn't share my appreciation for them but was always grateful for the fact that I got them just for her. Whenever I got a new knife & was excited about it, she would be happy for me even though she wasn't into knives at all. Sundays are really hard. It was our one day that we had all day together. I honestly don't know how I'm going to get through this.

She sounds very much like my wife. Always thoughtful even if it is not her cup of tea.

Maybe this is a great thread for you to share a story every Sunday? It would pass along her love and kindness to all of your blade friends here. It’s good to get your feelings out.

Much brotherly love toward you. Let us help. 😁

Just work through it one day at a time. Live how she would want you to. That's the best way we can honor those who mean/meant the most to us. I think of my grandfather and momma every day, I try to honor them by passing their lessons to others.

Man this is a great idea. Share with us my friend. We’re here to be of as much help as we can.

Did you consider getting a puppy yourself ? We have two cats that I love, but it's not the same. Just thinking out loud.

Warm regards,

Roland.

I have tried to reply to this thread a few times and just can't seem to find the right words ~ I'm always trying to be the Joker ~

I met my wife when we were 14 yrs old back in the 70's we hung around in the same neighborhood in Boston.

I'm 63 now and the only time we were ever separated was when I went in the Army at 19 ~ We got married soon as I got my Post after basic and she was an Army wife ~

Live for Her and times you had ~ Cause that's what you Guy's were building together ~ An Ever Lasting Relationship

I'm so sorry you are going through this :( I can't imagine what it's like. I can only pray that you'll find peace with her passing, and make her proud of how you live going forward until you meet again in the distant future. I also love that she carried those knives you gave her in her purse, because she either enjoyed them or she knew it would make you happy, or both.

I don't have the patience to raise a puppy. Seeing what my stepson & his wife are going through downstairs with theirs affirmed that. Even though they have a crate & was being watched, she managed to chew through just about everything down there & it smells like a kennel. No thank you. I'm happy with my cats. They're so easy to take care of. Kittens can be a bit of a handful at times but they're nothing like puppies.
