I love the flamboyant colors of knives nowadays.

I use a switchblade to paint my nails...I'm self diagnosed with ADD and always need to fiddle with something. Things you do will get judged by people... It's a matter of what you do and how much, will equal how much judgement you blah blah psychobabble

Maybe have mommy take you to a real psychiatrist...reasons...
please don't feel the need to school BladeForums on your version of knife buying ettiquite and adults on life lessons. Get off the computer for a while and go do some yardwork, take a nice shower, eat a good meal and read from a non-anime related book. Get your head on straight and try this another day.
Good luck in life.

Another way to perceive knives is even by names. As a civilian I don't like anything affiliated with any kind of law enforcement equipment so knives the like paramilitary spyderco don't leave me with a impression of wanting to own one. I am not a outdoors person, not a boy scout and have no affiliation to any kind of law enforcement. That knife was designed to favor the military. Make a knife called paracivilian and I'll be looking into it.

I walked into a military tactical gear shop the other day and they rubbed me the wrong way. I asked for butterflies knives and switchblades and right of the bat I could tell I was like a book being judged by its cover. They looked at my youth and my tattoos and probably wondered what kind of rebellious intentions does this youth have to want those knives. It was like the exact reason those knives have the stigma they do.

Spyderco makes one called a civillian. But you probably knew that, being a knife aficionado.
I got tattoos too. And a nose ring. And I look younger than I am. Maybe it's cause you asked specifically for switchblades and butterfly knives? I just ask for knives. Or guns.

ON TOPIC
I don't think colored knives is gonna change anyone's perception. I owned a green endura and loved it but sold it and regret it. I love Od green knives but I guess that's tactical? My girlfriend carries a blue kershaw cause she likes blue. She also carries a Waved Matriarch at work and she's never had a problem with taking it out. Carry what color you want and don't care what people's perceptions are.

Or maybe you look like every other guy that comes into their store with zero intention of buying anything from them. I'm sure enough of youse come through that they're able to sniff 'em out swiftly and handily.

This. Also, so what, you can't spend $250 on a decent bali, but you have tattoos? What? Those aren't cheap (I have multiple tattoos), so seems to me what you ACTUALLY have is a priority issue.
