Shocking!! I have to agree with Mr Horton. I bet Jerry is shocked the most.Hopefully he has enough smoke and scotch to ease his disbelief. It is redundant to mention "The Busse"... I mean warranty cause u will undoubtedly be hooked up. Thin or not can't believe it broke. On another note does not change my trust in the least. Broken tip or not I bet it still would have cut u out of a jam.

I'm guessing that's a custom from the latest Ganza? Are customs usually built to the same thickness/grinds as normal models?
I was planning to take my new Custom Satin Jack out and play with it this weekend, hopefully you're an isolated case. That sucks though, but I'm sure they'll make it good.

I think you should take it out and have some fun with it, put it through its paces so to speak. If it breaks (which I highly doubt) it'll be taken care of, if it doesn't then clean it up and put it back knowing it'll be good to go when you need it again:thumbup:

Man, Aaron, I was just kidding when I said beat her silly.

Like everyone else, I'm shocked it broke...and sorry.
Hope you're not too bummed, but it's comforting knowing Jerry will make it all good.

I think Jerry will do what he does best in this instance and that is take the problem, which is a thin tip and BEEF IT THE EF UP! We could call it the HOG NOSE SNFO:p

It's all good bro, if I broken knife tip is all I have going wrong I think I'll be ok:D

"At this point I just tried to kill it. I held the knife by the handle and smacked the blade against a wooden bench, thats when this damage occured"

That may have been a bit excessive, lol. I would have gotten the tip repaired. Why damage the knife further? It's a nice knife.

I don't really know that much about knife repair, I guess I just figured that a broken tip can't be put back on and that even if it could it would still be entirely too thin. Not only did the tip break but a good portion of steel behind the break was bending and taking a set. I'd say about another 1/4 of an inch. I was trying to see if it was going to go ahead and break off. In all seriousness is there a way to repair a broken tip short of regrinding the part where it broke off?

They might have been able to regrind the tip back on? IMO CG's are meant for beating and custom shops for the safe, also the metal seems softer on customs.

Can't bring myself to leave it in the safe:barf:. I probably would have bought a CB if i could've found one. Even still combat grade or custom, a Busse is a Busse and as such they are subject to higher standards. To me Busse is the Gold standard to which all others are judged.

At this point I just tried to kill it.

Why? At that point for me, anything except the tip would fall under intentional damage.... don't break things cause you can. It's things like that that make most manufactures limit their warranty's.

I see your point about intentional damage, however I don't see Busse Combat simply treating the symptoms and ignoring the cause. I don't think they would solder on a tip that broke off because it was too thin to begin with. I could be wrong but to me that would be like constantly pouring water into your radiator, yeah it'll get you from A to B but the busted thermostat is the real problem.

Nonsense in my opinion.

There is not a maker on the planet that would tell you his knives, custom or not, are for the safe only.

I pay more for a custom and it performs less than a CG....never...:thumbdn:...not acceptable..

Knives are tools to be used.

Jerry will make this right.

This is an excellent point sir. I didn't hand over a perfectly good Batac and cash to boot for something that I have no intention of using:cool:

Whah?..... .... grind back "ON"??????

Grinding is a "removal" process.

Huh?...... Granted I don't justify the high prices of the custom shop knives personally. But, they should ABSOLUTELY be up to standards.

????? .....

Do you have a custom vs. CG experience to base this on????

In theory, the heat treatment could be damaged by a custom shop grinder. But, I assume this isn't the case.

HIGHLY agree!!!!

If anything, the custom should perform better without the coating.

Although, I think customs should come with CE edges.... For that matter, I think all high dollar knives should come with quality edges.
