I need a tank and a meat cleaver. Please help.

Throw the word "extreme" in front of the word "folder" and Cold Steel is usually my starting point. I'm not sure which of these is wider at its widest point, but you'll get the idea:

Clearly no collection of folders with wide blades would be complete without them. :D

Large Lum by Spyderco off the top of my head....well, not literally on top of my head.

I appreciate broad blade myself! Will be interested in seeing what this thread turns up, as my focus is usually concentrated on fixed blades. Not the widest but quite wide and delightfully thin-bladed is the Benchmade Onslaught.

Funny how people say wide, then start talking about how thick a blade is. He is asking about width, not thickness which are 2 different dimensions.

The widest folder I have is a Lionsteel SR1 and it is a great knife as well.

I don't think the Praetorian can be beat, Grayman Satu is another big option though.

Exercise in futility. 10 minutes after you get your folder with a 3" wide blade, someone else will order one with a 3.5" wide blade. But since we're being silly, the Cold Steel Voyager XL is 1 1/2" wide and the Opinel #13 is 1 9/16" wide.

Why on Earth would you need the widest possible folding knife?
If it's for collection, a wide fixed blade looks better.
For use, just get an axe!

The real question is why are you wanting a folding mini machete? The widest practical folder I have held would be the ZT 550.and wider and it takes up too much pocket space.

More like a folding cleaver. I'm a collector and it's just one of those things I gotta have.

Direware SOLO, Medford Praetorian, Burch Dao or Tangent, Willumsen Tuco, Strider SJ75, uhhhhhh....

The Burch Dao is nothing short of absolutely bad ass! I don't know how in the world I haven't heard of his knives before. The down side is obtaining one. Can't find one anywhere. I'll hit up the exchange and see what's up.
