I need another Mnandi thread to read.

Anyone else have issues with mnandi falling out of its leather pouch?

Is there a way to shrink the supplied leather pouch?

You can wet form the leather for a better fit, perhaps wrap the knife in cling film first to keep it dry. You can also carry it about in your pocket for a year or so for the same results. :p

I used Sno-Seal, a waterproofing product made from beeswax. I applied liberally and allowed it to dry. I did this twice and the result was a pouch that was form-fitted to my Mnandi. The added benefit is that your pouch is now waterproof and has a bit darker coloration. Eventually I went to a custom pouch which is an even better solution.

Well, you all know how it is . . . here's my story. This morning, I completed a transaction with the prior owner of a BNIB ebony with ladder damascus:

and I think this knife is totally stunning. Simple in a sort of "black and white" way -- this complements the elegance of the gentleman's folder concept.

I am sure some of you saw the knife listed here in the past few days --

So, since this morning, I have been reading and viewing anything the internet has on these knives. I love the Sebenzas (have been carrying small ones for several years to use in my warehouse), but I have started to feel as though I want to carry a knife when I am away from work. Since I love the CRK quality, this led me to discover the Mnandi's.

The obvious problem is: this knife seems like it may be too nice to carry and I will have to get another for "using". What I am going to do is to wait until I get the knife in the next few days and then I will decide if I want to order a "user" (leaving this one in the safe) or use this one or, heaven forbid, "catch and release" the knife altogether if I don't like something about the design, feel, action, etc. Somehow I don't think that last is really going to happen after reading all these threads, ha ha!:D

Congrats uptheorg!
That one is a beauty, I like it a lot!
I would imagine your first thought may be that it is lightweight since it's under 2 ounces. I hope you will consider the weight to be a bonus.
It will carry easily yet have a lot of cutting power for gentleman-type tasks. It's a handsome knife as well and is sure to fetch some compliments.

Keep us updated.

The Mnandi is a beautiful and functional knife and I think you'll find that once you get to using yours uptheorg.

I'm afraid I might have to sell my Lignum sometime soon to fund a custom...hopefully I don't have to.

I love the wood inlays, but usually buy the small Sebbies. They are too small for me to carry, so I just admire them in the box and after a few weeks I trade them off. I don't get serious about the Mnandi because it seems to be smaller yet. My normal EDC is my LBS Zaan or large Sebbie, although I prefer plain and well-scarred up, so that I'm not reluctant to use them.
There is no doubt that the Mnandi is the perfect "office" knife or gents knife.

I understand what you're saying Serg. Some days I wish I could call back all my former CRKs.

As a musician, one of the finest joys of my life is reminiscing about all the lessons I and others gave her, how her performances have evolved from the likes of a one-handed "Mary Had a Little Lamb", and all the while listening to my daughter's extraordinary playing with a level that has far surpassed any skill and grace than I ever possessed. This ebony and ivory piece is dedicated to her:

I get a little choked up each time I read about the sentimentality of that knife Fooj. Your love for your daughter is so very touching.

Very nice, Fooj. FYI, here is the full quote of your sig block, in case you did not know:

To be is to do. —Socrates
To do is to be. —Plato
Do-be-do-be-do. —Sinatra

I've been gone from the forum for a while.
I started a search for the perfect EDC knife years ago, found CRK but didn't order at that time.
Can't recall why, but the wait was probably the main reason.
Last December I was looking again and found the forum.
The Mnandi is just perfection in the hand, sturdy enough for most common daily tasks and a pleasure to carry and handle.

Cheers

J
