I need another Mnandi thread to read.

Here is the camel thorn Mnandi that I posted about yesterday. Next to it is one of my wedding bands. My incredible wife got me multiple bands with different materials/inlays so that I can match my ring to the knife that I am carrying! She is a keeper:)

Wow, she really is a keeper. Can we see the other band/knife pairs?

Here is the carbon fiber version:)

I hope to add a CF sebenza into this picture very soon all my other CRK knives are wood inlay or plain jane

Ernie: The onyx might not, actually. The stuff is pretty durable, especially in a setting. You could also use black nephrite jade, which is the toughest known gemstone. The test to figure out if your stone sample is nephrite is as follows: "Hit it with an excavation hammer, see if it rings but DOESN'T crack." This from a book on gemstones.

Then that is just what I need! I always end up dropping my knives at some point:)

And to 3migo: yes I have a plain band I can wear to match my titanium only knives:thumbup:

My Mnandi hasn't been seeing as much pocket time lately since I got my Ti-lock. I'll have to fix that.

^How's the Ti-Lock handle, I've heard their a bit tricky?

It's definitely different. Interesting design, some might argue that it's being different just for difference sake, I don't know. What I can tell you is that I love it, and I highly recommend you try it. It's hard to really "get" the Ti-lock until you hold one.

I'm happy to report that I've used my Mnandi so much it needs sharpening. Wish I knew how to do that.

I did own a Wicked Edge, but found it complicated for me and sold it.
I may go with a Spyderco Sharpmaker as I understand CRK recommends those. (I'll have to double check that fact.)
I never became adept at sharpening as I usually don't use knives, I tend to just admire them.

Lisa...CRK also recommends "stropping" on cardboard, like the back of a note pad. Angle your mnandi about 30% and drag it across the cardboard with almost no pressure. Do this 10-12 times per side and test it on paper to see if it's working. If your blade is not too far gone it should come back. Once you get the hang of it this it a great way to maintain an edge by doing it a few times after use. Chris Reeve posted this technique in here somewhere a couple years ago. This should get you back to cutting fairly quickly with almost no risk to the blade. ( you should also get a sharpmaker, they are easy to use )

Hm, I've always found the Wicked edge to be an easy method once you practice with it a bit.

Another option instead of the sharpmaker, check out the "Washboard Sharpening System" that's currently up in the Knifemakers for sale gadget area. Pretty cool system.

I did buy a strop, so I may try that first.
Thanks all for some input, I may have to look into those other options.
