I owe a lot of money to a loan snark!

But it might gain value. Look at all the people on the bay who do nothing but order Randalls five years ago and sell 'em for a $100-200 profit as soon as they come in. How many of those are actually being used for anything except filling up display cases?

I'm definitely a "user" guy myself... just sayin, a lot of people aren't.
If I had the money for a Randall, it would be a small one and it would be my EDC. I just don't get people that will display something that they'd never use. It's like the people that have the swords crossed over their mantle and yet can't tell the difference between a katana, a rapier, a longsword, a cutlass... If you don't know what it is or how to use it or are willing to use it, why have it?!

Yeah, I have a similar rule. Don't talk to me if you got your junk in your hand. However when it's a doctor that is talking it isn't always an easy rule to follow.

The exception is that a dude can talk to you if he has YOUR junk in HIS hand. See? it all works out.
Now what y'all do in PRIVATE is emphatically nonnamybeeswax, but an office bathroom isn't private.

I hate that about the trade forums. "trading new for new, or "like new" for the same." Makes me feel weird about wanting to trade good condition but very obviously used knives.

I'd say to each his own... Either the people who baby their knives... or the ones who beat the ever lovin crap out of them. BUT when I see that babied knife I always think to myself, "Man, if I had that I would be cutting the hell out of some stuff with it!" :D

I don't think you can really appreciate a quality blade unless you use it as designed and appreciate the craftsmanship along with the aesthetics. Yes, it makes nice eye candy and it sure does look purdy, but it was made to cut stuff. Besides, often times their true beauty and character only comes with some use.

Crappy picture, but you get the idea.... Oh and from what I understand, there were only 50 of these sent out with canvas micarta. Only a $50 knife, but I'm sure plenty are safe queens.

:eek::eek:

so I'm back home - about 5 as the weather got close my head started throbbing.
at 6:30 there was still no-one else there, so I packed it up and headed home.
on the way I drove through the front and the temp dropped 10 degrees in a mile.

Scored one of the dollar store folding saws:

You call that a saw?

This is a saw!
(that is a 2X4 next to it for perspective)

I snagged this last time I was home in Missouri. Me and one of my younger brothers spent quite a few hours on opposite ends cutting up oak trees into 18" sections. My dad bought a chainsaw when we both went off to college.

Yours probably is easier to carry though... :D

Hope you get to feeling better Vik.

Everyone in this house has been going thru a bug. My daughter started it, passed it to her brother, then momma, and now me... Well im on the tail end of it now thankfully.

And i have been to 3 dollar stores looking for a folding saw..any folding saw..... No luck.

I didnt have my phone on me but i wanted to take a picture while in wal-Fart the other night. I dont like crowds so i went at about 0330AM... but the entire outdoor isle was nearly empty. Maybe they know something i dont????

Cheaper too, haha.

Sorry to hear that Vik, I was supposed to be camping this weekend too, but I got told I'm on call tomorrow cause there is a deaf festival and most of the interpreters for the agency are going to be volunteering there. I told them I'd rather be on call and making money than doing the work and not getting paid. It got me called an a-hole but hell I'll be getting paid!

Tonight I went to play racquetball, got home and made some scrumptious yummy food!

I hate you Cbear.

I had lipton chicken noodle soup mixed with lots of good herbs to help me combat this bug.

Your dinner looks like it taste better

It was yummy, I will admit that. I'm currently stuck in bed with my legs wrapped up in a heating pad trying to get them to stop cramping. HOLY JEEZ!

For those who are nerdy like me.

Still plenty of polishing, and I need to "work the guard to look like braid," but getting there... First replica that I have heard about of Tam's heron mark sword from Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" series. 37" OAL, brass fittings (cause bronze is expensive), CPM 3V. The sword is supposed to have "nobby black leather" wrapping the handle, so I used a pebble backgrounder to provide the "nobbiness." Nobby actually means stylish, but I don't think that was the author's intent. It's also supposed to be made from virtually indestructible steel, so I figured 3V with Dan Keffeler's amazing protocols done by Peters comes about as close to legendary strength, especially considering the steels that would have been used in the days of swords. I'm looking forward to putting an edge on this and seeing what it can do.
