I shal now disappear

Call the cops... I'll gladly take a misdemeanor theft charge to ensure you no longer have a business... The law doesn't smile too well on counterfeiting! Boy how quick did his expression change! I went outside and instead of quickly leaving.... Took a seat on the curb... Cracked open the rockstar and smoked a cig.... After about 20 mins of evil glares and no cops....
Technically that would be a NON-emergency.
Doesn't mean he didn't contact the police and utilize the video and audio to file charges.

Im pretty sure I was in the wrong.... Everyone here is very correct. I'll now back my way out thanks for the good conversations I did have on this site!

You are just a pathetic human being if you have to be told by others that stealing is wrong. FYI the clerk probably didnt call the cops because he IS an immigrant and doesnt want any trouble. Not because he feels guilty about having a counterfeit knife that he probably knows nothing about.

...but at least he'll get this 100% cotton t-shirt as a parting gift...

You can turn this around.

Man up and return the knife to the store, and tell the guy you made a mistake. Tell him you saw him selling knock-offs of an American made product you have allot of respect for and reacted poorly to say the least. Then pay him for the knife that you stole, AND give the knife back to him. Offer to shake his hand, and weather he accepts your handshake or not, walk out and never go back.

Or, live the rest of life wishing you had.

This assumes any of your story is true, which I doubt.

Stu, could you doubt the word of someone whose "about me" section here includes the following information:

Biography
I'm the guy that's bangin your daughter/wife/both

At least his powers of prognostication were still spot on when he changed the title of this thread.

I'm sure he will disappear, the only question is who will get to "disappear" him.

Doh! too late! I missed his new status.

Oh, that was taken care of (insofar as this site is concerned) after he got the t-shirt. Hopefully that will be all the "disappearing" necessary. (See post 23.) ;)

I Read This Earlier, Before He Deleted The Post.
Like Really? This Man Selling It, Probably Didn't Know It Was A Fake.
Since He's Not American, He Probably Has No Concept Of A Real Or Fake Knife Made From An American Made Knife Company.
Which Benchmade Does Make Very Few Non American Made Knives, But I Doubt They Are As Well Known To People In Other Countries, As They Are To People Here. ESPECIALLY People Whom Do Not Collect Knives Themselves.
The Man Is Trying To Run A Business, Make His Way In The World, Like We All Are.
You're NOT Helping Benchmade, This Man, Or Yourself By Doing This. You Are VERY Wrong, And I'm Glad You Got Banned.

Wow, I got a laugh out of this thread. I am convinced...some people are just born stupid. Glad there is no room on BF for morons like him! I can't tell you how upsetting it is to get ripped off as a retailer. I run a gourmet wine/spirits/food retail shop and I have seen it all. I still am not sure, however, where some people get their sense of entitlement like this clown did.

Nice, a racist thief that brags about taking the moral high ground on the interwebss for armed robbery.

Survey says check the tape! This dude is telling a yarn long enough to knit a turtleneck.

Hmm, not only are you a thief, but a bigot as well. Your lack of "bigger picture" thinking is not surprising though. I would willing to bet you get banned here sooner rather than later. One more thing, you are what is really wrong with this country, moronic theives with a false sense of entitlement. You do serve at at least one purpose though, how not to be.

+1. very poor judgement

Bladechick, while you are editing your post anyway, could you fix your shift key?

It seems to find it's way into every word you type.

Thanks Leadfoot

What Should Someone Do If They See A Store Owner Selling Counterfeits? Contact The Authorities, The Knife-Maker, Both? (Obviously They Shouldn't Do What Jonadz Did)

The locals are unlikely to get involved in something like that unless it's part of a task force mission.

Since the most likely source of such knockoffs is overseas, it is technically a "Customs" matter and they have groups which target fraud, illegal imports, copyright and trademark infringement etc.

Chances are that they might not feel that the matter rises to the level required to take action unless the company suffering loss as a result of the enterprise was to make a report and provide details...and the dollar value of any such injury was substantial. Obviously a large network makes a juicier target.

It all depends on what the case load is like at the enforcing office and how motivated (for "justice", "stats", whatever) the local prosecutor's office (or U.S. Attorney's office) may be.

So, in a case like this, contacting Benchmade directly might be the most efficient method but it's a crap shoot.

Jonadz, you could make this right by donating the stolen knife to a homeless person - the homeless are always getting into knife fights under bridges or in abandon buildings ---- then the stolen knife could be put to good use
.
.

Yes you were wrong and its good that you accept that. But you should return to the store and apologize and pay the owner for what you stole + something else but you should decide about that. Then if you are able you should explain why you overstepped your bounds and maybe you can educate him about the whole knockoff thing. Maybe you can become friends and help a new knife enthusiast.

hmm, sounds like a young and dumb mistake.. but not excusable and should be punished. gl in life- hope you learned something that will stick... doubt it :)

I Agree Both With NPE And Dave.
I Think You Should Give The Stolen Knife To A Homeless Person, Maybe A Woman, Because Homeless Women Are Getting Beat Up, Raped And Killed All The Time, And It's Sickening. But Homeless Men Are Also Getting Beat Just Because.
So Give It To Someone Homeless.
And Then Go Back To The Store And Pay For The Knife As Well.
That Way You've Done Two Things To Right One Un-excusable Mistake.
