Whenever I stay in Chicago for any extended length of time, I get PTSD.
why is that bro i find i feel more safe in dangerous areas cause you know where the lines are its the normal people that make me nervous that act all good but hide there dark sides so you never know how to handle them when shit goes down

Not under my pillow but I usually keep a ZT within arms reach....and an even better weapon......an aluminum baseball bat

I'll take a gang member whos just trying with the hand his dealt over a depressed suburban guy who works a job he hates just to pay a mortgage that he wont finnish paying before his wife cheats on him for being distant and depressed anyday of the week. I'll take dangerous over crazy, trying to reason with crazy is a hard skill to learn bro

I sleep with my CR plain Inkosi. The titanium feels like velvet. It relaxes me. Anyone else sleep with a knife in hand?

Old habits die hard when they are born of traumatic events. I sleep with one in reach one way or another always, a few other things as well including flashlights and an extensive first aid kit. I don't always have one in the bed with me, it usually hangs on one of the bed posts. My lady friend knows the situation very well, she's read excerpts of the biography I'm writing and heard other parts of the story orally years ago when I was explaining the reasons behind some of my habits. But still, I think her head suddenly getting banged into a metal pommel if the pillow moved, would likely put a damper on the mood...

This is absolutely the strangest thread I have read here.

Stick around, this is nothing compared to some I've seen over the years.

Not in hand, but I do have a Buck 110 or 112 on my belt when I'm sleeping.

I used to fall asleep while playing with folders or fixed blade knives. My wife told me that she once saw me sheathing and resheathing a rather large bowie while I was completely asleep. I pretty much stopped keeping knives on the bed after that. For pretty much the same reason I don’t keep revolvers under my pillow—maybe by my feet if space were limited.

2X BA Bowies, sheathed, stay on the nightstand . Not allowed on the bed ! More a comforting habit than from need .

Where exactly in the city did you live? (ok, don't have to be exact if it's that traumatic)

Nearest large intersection was either 47th and Halsted, or 39th and Halsted on the South Side.

Englewood starts at around 52nd(SHOOTING GALLERY). On the other side of the Yards is the Back of The Yards(SHOOTING GALLERY). To the East is Bronzeville(SHOOTING GALLERY). To the North is Bridgeport.

I fell asleep on the couch with my zt 804 clipped to my pocket the other day, but as far as intentionally taking a knife to bed....no, that's weird and not to mention...dangerous. I keep my s&w sport 2 within arms reach for anything that goes bump in the night.

Not in Chicago. The cops arrest everyone involved. It is a bastion of liberal ideology and they do not believe in self defense.

This made me lol! She's not your ex wife? I'm pretty sure if my wife caught me playing with knives in my sleep we'd be done.

I have them handy enough in my waking hours.
