I so envy all of you Hogs!

I got the desert sage and tan/black g10, I might strip the finish if it doesn't grow on me. Would stripping it be considered a competition finish?

Way Back when I was a Dealer, I from time to time was set up (a single Table) directly across from Cold Steel, (they usually had 10 to 14 tables around the end of a row, or made into a box like the Pioneers Circling the Wagons)

When People complained/fussed about the cost of a Busse Knife, or they really wanted a new knife but could not afford a Busse Knife, I would Direct them across the aisle to Cold Steel where they would no doubt be able to find a "Good Cheap knife"

Lynn Thompson, the Owner of Cold Steel some times took exception to that for all I was Sincere in my direction, he also took some exception to the amount of time that the 6 or 8 men that he had working at the show were spending in front of the Busse Table, I spoke with the people who had Tested the Two Battle Mistresses that Cold Steel bought for their own Testing, They were very impressed by the performance of those two knives.

They even bought a few knives from me for themselves over the course of a few shows.

Then they just stopped coming to the San Diego Shows.

Very hard to find a knife as good for the money for basic cutting as a Mora, an Excellent inexpensive knife.

I have kind of a lot of knives, all makes and manufactures, There are a whole lot of very nice cheap knives out there, get a few, use them, get used to them, then when the time comes for you to get a Busse Knife Group knife, you will have plenty of experience to be able to make direct comparisons with and to the knives you have.

My son has all the knives I had all I have now and s my supertool 300. I have had it for about three years or so. It's done everything I have asked it to do with no problems. I don't even own a pocket knife or a fixed blade. A gentleman from the Becker forum was nice enough to give me a bk 14 but my son snagged it for his scouting. I am cool with that though. :-)

I apologize by the way if I have violated any rules or regs for this particular forum. I just envy you guys cause the TGLB is a fine piece of combat weaponry. I wish I had that blade during Operation Desert Shield /Storm instead of the old dull Camillus Kabar type knife I had. I was a Corpsman with 1/6 Alpha Company 2nd platoon during that time. We Corpsman weren't allowed to carry an M16 so, all I had was a Beretta 92f and the Camillus. That blade was beyond dull let me tell you and thinking back to it I was not much on knives back then. I didn't really start getting into it till I started truck driving back in 90's. My first knife was a Buck Crosslock and it just went from there. The TGLB would be a grail knife for me. I think I would want a leather/kydex combination sheath with a ferrocium rod attachment. Yep that would do me fine!

I dont think you have violated any rules, one thing you will find is the Busse and Swamp Rat forums here on BF are proably the most laid back forums on the entire site. That and as you have found out you dont have to own one of the knives to be welcomed, it truely is a great group of people on both forums. Now granted I am more active in the Swamp but have never once felt unwelcome here in Hog land.

Patrick is correct. This forum is a great place to hang out and get info.

This thread is a reminder to those of us who have the extra $$, just how lucky we are. These knives come at at price but I consider them "functional art". Took my NMFBM out from its winter hibernation. It's a beauty to behold. I simply never tire of it. Even my smaller Busse and Kin (kitchen duty) are a joy to use, hold, and look at. Perhaps those smaller blades are more attainable? They sure are worth owning and most people will get more regular mileage out of them:)

Cheers to all..... And yes.... It is OK to spread your peanut butter with an R3 or SAR3....

This is a good thread.

Sometimes we all need a little slap in the face to remind us how lucky we are and fortunate for what we have.
When I say have, I mean family friends and freedom....everything else is just a something we take along along for the ride.

Personally for me it would be too big and heavy. Maybe a weekender.

I have a Magnum Bear Cub inbound to fill this role - 6 5/8" OAL
3.0" blade length

If you hit it with a ScotchBrite wheel after stripping it will be very close to cf. That's what I did with my cgfbmcbt.

This was right after stripping:

What type of scotch-brute wheel did you use (grit etc)?

I would love to just hold a TGLB just to see how it fills in the hand. I am going to start selling some of my Edc bags that I don't use to start funding a TGLB or heck even a Ratmandu CG. I want black/tan scales with tanker gray blade on a TGLB and almost any color on a RMD.

I was watching TWD last night and man the TGLB that Darryl was using......... Man it was awesomeness ya'll pure awesomeness!
