I so envy all of you Hogs!

If you hit it with a ScotchBrite wheel after stripping it will be very close to cf. That's what I did with my cgfbmcbt.

The competition finish also had a much higher edge bevel designed for more aggressive cutting as far as I remember.

Time for a trip to NorCalBlackTail :D

I'm with the OP. I never seem to get anywhere close to enough in my "fun fund." I had a decent tax return and think I might be finally taking the plunge.

Ebay is your friend. I sold a few of my guitars I don't play any more to get into Busse land. I just bought a TGLB and it should arrive tomorrow. I have found there is a lot of stuff I don't use anymore I can sell. Just a thought.

I don't care for ebay dude, thanks though.

$3500.00? Seriously? (ebay) Wow that's a little over the top isn't it? Even for A Daryl Dixon replica of the TGLB.

I will still get one, one of these days. I just hope they will still be around when I get my pennies(literally) saved up.

Im sorry, no I meant sell some stuff on ebay. Not purchase knives on ebay. Purchase from busse or here on the forum. I was amazed how much money I raised with stuff laying around my house.

I grew up as a truck drivers kid so I can relate. Don't think my Dad ever drove a mile because thats what he wanted to do, he did it because its what he needed to do. I gave him a gemini for Christmas this year. Gave it to him on our annual father/son walk through the woods on Christmas day. I can honestly say the walk meant more to me than the knife ever would. I can always make another knife or buy him another gift but once the opportunity to spend time with him is gone I cant ever get it back.
Sounds to me like your family got a hell of a guy to watch out for them.

Garth
It's posts like this that make me wish there was a "like" button on bladeforums.

I will attempt to sell some of my stuff and see what I can come up with. The three day plus was used when I bought it off of eBay. And I have used it some and the so tech paladin go bag I have is nwot never used. So maybe I can get some between the two to start anyway. I just placed another TGLB order today and asked if it could be made a year from now to give me time to save. I am hoping to get it sooner though.

I did it! I listed my stuff on ebay so between the two hopefully I will have enough to get a decent start on my savings. Wish me luck! :-)

Ron, More people should be envious of you. So many people go thought life having no idea of why we are here. You sound like a good man.

I could buy more Busse but I feel guilty for taking money away from the family for some stuff I really don't need. I do try to have a repesentitive piece of each length of Busse. A 3", 4", 5", 6" and on.....I find I am happy with that. I have not gotten past 8" yet.

When there is something I want I try and make it "finance nutral". I sell something of mine that I no longer need, tools, guns, whatever.

Goodluck with everything. I bet you will do well. Regards, David

Thank you Sir, I am not perfect but I just try to treat people how I would want to be treated. Not always successful but I try. If there is one thing that I have learned out of life is that if you screw up or make a mistake own up to it and never be too prideful or arrogant to apologize. People may not always be in the forgiving mood but at least you tried right?

A budget is everything if you ever feel like retiring. They put these stupid age numbers on when you should retire. I'm not going to go into depth here but, I for one plan on retiring at 45 years old. Cash is king. I buy everything I can with cash. I have only one credit card. Usually the poorer someone seems in my circle the more money they have in their accounts. At the end of the day these are just awesome knives. But expensive knives. For $600 I expect flawless fit and finish. Anyway, rant off. But saving and investing your money is very wise. Luckily with Busse you can re-sell at or above paying price. :)

I figure when it comes my time to retire they will have an incinerator waiting on me to just flop into cause I will be so old when I finally quit driving ! Lol

Garth,

What you said is so true. Dad and I went hunting every Fall mainly for upland birds, and except for a lunch break we would walk thru woods, fields, across streams and so on, from 9 AM until late in the afternoon. This year will be the 25th anniversary of his death, and I still miss those very special times that we shared outdoors. Hunting was fun, but it was really the time we spent together outdoors that I valued so much.
