One more time , the bill of rights gives us the right to free speech. On an earlier post, it was stated that Shiva Ki`s earlier behavior is inexcusable and won`t be tolerated. The last time I checked the forums belongs to all the people, not just a select few. Even though the parties involved have settled their differences, Shiva and several others are still seeing negative comments in the forums. I won`t tolerate this because it is smacks exactly of what has happened in many other countries. ie , had THeir rights taken away. The constitution and bill of rights guarantees these freedoms. The super this and that, don`t be alarmed, as I am taking myself off the forums, so that I can breath a little easier. ,so that I can keep my mind clear on some upcoming medical tests. Shiva and others will know that I will be staying in touch with them. And I AM FOREVER GREATFULL FOR MEETING SOME PEOPLE ON THESE FORUMS. Ever Forward.
 
You're right -- you have free speech on the net. You can set up your own website and say whatever you like on it and no one can stop you -- and what's more, no one can force you to publish their spam on your website. If someone refuses to accept your right to freedom of speech and insists on spamming your website with advertising, over and over, you can ban him from using your website. You can't be forced to go on publishing his spam. :cool:

Actually, no Bill of Rights guaranties anyone that there won't negative comments made about them. I don't know where you got that idea.

As far as you not tolerating it is concerned, I really don't what it is that you think you can do about it. You leaving the forums isn't going to do a thing to stop it. All it will mean is that you won't be reading it.

All the best on your upcoming medical tests.

Actually, it belongs to Spark. If he wanted to ban me because I like gouda cheese, he could do it. If he wanted to delete everything you said and make it like you were never here, he could do it. Sorry, there's no guarantee of equal time or the right to say anything whatsoever - we're all guests in the house and rude ones are thrown out. Maybe fair, maybe not but that's just the way it is.

He is referring to it being one sided. This isn't protected either however, it just says you have the right to free speech meaning that you can say it or publish it yourself, not that someone has to do it for you.

There may be a case legally if Ki was prevented from defending himself here while being critized/insulted, if it could be shown to be a singled bias, effecting his income, untrue, etc., and especially by moderators enforcing the restriction.

However my understanding was that he was banned for commercial activities without the correct membership and is free to rejoin at any time to discuss his knives or of course sell them with a maker membership.

He can come back if he wants to as long he plays nice and follows the rules. I think he probably feels that he has better things to do though.

This is Spark's forum. He can do whatever the hell he wants. People aren't going to be banned or censored because they have opinions that disagree with others'. People (like the one we're all talking about) however will be banned if what they're doing is destructive to the knife community.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Free Speech. Think of Bladeforums as a newspaper. A newspaper doesn't have to provide Free Speech. They can print whatever they want (and not print what they don't want). That's Free Speech. What you can do is start your own newspaper, or your own knife forum, and run it how you see fit. That's Free Speech.

Wishing you peace of mind and body with life's concerns. It is good to put things in perspective and realize what is important to you, what goals you have fulfilled, and what purpose you serve until your struggles are at an end.

If you walk alone by choice, this I can understand,
if you walk alone by circumstance, then it is a sad thing.

You know, I had actually forgotten that. He certainly was given multiple warnings and more than one opportunity to play by the rules. Anyway, even though it wouldn't bother me to see him return, it is would not be my decision to make.
