Hi there,

My name is Kenneth, and I think I got scammed by Nevermind35. I had done about 10 transactions at BF exchange, this is the first problem I encounter. At first, I thought it might just be miscommunication, but after I saw made by Rydenjtg01 (he paid for the same knife) on another thread, I know it is just a scam. Below is detail of my transaction.

I recently purchased a custom Elishewitz Anubis from nevermind35 on October 25th, and I am wondering if you can help me out with it. At the time of purchase, nevermind35 said that he prefer Paypal gift, but would accept Paypal goods. Being that it is for his medical bill, I decide to paid with Paypal goods, but I did add 3% to cover his fee. He told me it will be ship on Monday (October 26th) and will send me the tracking number. On October 28th, I still have not receive the tracking number, so I PM & email him again. He replied me that he have already ship it and will get me tracking number the next day. On October 30th, I send him another PM & email for my tracking number, but I have not heard from him since. I also PM & email him on November 1st, 3rd, and earlier today. I understand from his post that he was selling his knives to cover some medical bill and the last time he log in was October 31st. On November 5th, I contacted BF mod for help, he told me I should post on GBU and email Nevermind35 the link. I email & PM Nevermind35 again on November 6th that I will take action after the weekend. And today, I saw on another posting that Rydenjtg01 paid for the same knife I purchase. I am just glad I paid with Paypal goods. I hope other will notice this thread before doing any other business with Nevermind35.

Thanks,
Kenneth

PayPal goods covers your A$%
IMO If a seller wants gift payment...(Unless its folks Ive dealt with LOTS AND LOTS of times)
I go to next post...Or NET payments....I simply avoid those post completely....
I have changed my view on these topics in the last year or so.
I sell...The payment is clearly posted...ALL IN...Shipped.
Contact a MODERATOR and get them involved to pursue proper lines..
Hoping this works out..

Nevermind35 has been here for 6 yrs and it looks like he has only messed up twice before, according to his feedback. Of course, I do not know the details of those.

I also always skip "net to me," and "gift only" threads.

Hope this works out Kenneth.

litetech, I hope everything gets worked out quickly, if not you can still file a claim with paypal.

That being said a simple check of Nevermind35's feedback shows two negatives this year, which should have been a HUGE warning flag to avoid this seller. Just because a seller has perfect feedback does not ensure you won't have problems, but doing business with someone who has multiple negatives greatly increases the chance that you will be posting in GBU.

Hopefully Nevermind35 is just incommunicado for a period. He seems to have good feedback.

If it were me, I'd file a PayPal dispute after that long without a package, or communication with me about a tracking number.

That's the magic of PayPal goods and services. You can take action and not have to wait for someone who has gone dark to get around to your issue.

I really thought Nevermind35 was busy with insurance or hospital, I really thought he would come through. That is until I saw this posting, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1325574-Nevermind35/page3

On post 52 & 54, member Rydenjtg01 paid for the same knife that I paid for. On post 54, I saw that seller contacted him through e-mail that he will send it, I tried to contact Rydenjtg01 , but he does not have PM or email. Hopefully he know what is going not and not let Nevermind35 stall him for another 2-3 weeks.

I sent him a PM letting him know that he needs to chime in here.

Is friends/family the same as the gift option?

Yes, read the Paypal site for their new descriptions. If you are buying an item, it is also known as "goods". If you are sending your brother/sister/cousin/uncle/aunt/nephew/niece money and it is a gift for a birthday or whatever, then use friends and family. SHould be clearer now that Paypal redid their site.

I've only done a few deals here but not new to Internet deals. And I always do a Google and site spacific name check if I've never delt with the person. Nevermind35 has a suspicious thread here to start but seems he has made well on it http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1325574-Nevermind35 but still would have thrown up a red flag for me . I hope it works out for you as it has for others in that thread. Glad you used the correct pp to save your own butt, wise choice again hope all works out for you. Sad to have to be so careful on a site we all use to further our like minded hobby of knives.

Couldn't agree more. I hate when people get all snooty with their "net to me xxx.xx" all precisely calculated out to account for the fees to the penny. This ain't your taxes or a math problem, just round up and give a simple "goods only" figure already. But I guess accountants sell knives too...

Good idea, you just have to protect yourself. Nothing against anyone here, but it works better this way.

Has a rule change ever been proposed to allow people to "call out" sellers who ask buyers to use the PayPal gift option? I imagine it could potentially create other problems, but it might be effective nonetheless.

Sorry for checking in so late...

I sent Nevermind35 a Blade Forum PM today and received an email back immediately... Here is what it read:

Seth,
Hello there. I see that you've been trying to get ahold of me, I'm sorry to have missed your correspondence. Now it makes sense, I kept getting calls from a California number and was sure that it was some salesman, so I never picked up. Sorry that it took a bit longer than expected, it's really hard getting somebody to get to the post office for me. However, I was able to get it out yesterday evening thank god, as soon as my wife gets home I'll send you the tracking number. Thanks.
~Ryan

I was so relieved to get this email. Then I saw this post and now I don't know what to think.

It seems so risky to ruin your name like this.

Kenneth... I will reach out to you so we can discuss the situation.

Very disturbing news indeed!

Seth
