I think I got scammed by Nevermind35

I've messaged a moderator on another forum and let him know about this thread as well as Ryan's outstanding issue here.

Sorry for checking in so late...

I sent Nevermind35 a Blade Forum PM today and received an email back immediately... Here is what it read:

=============================
Seth,
it's really hard getting somebody to get to the post office for me. However, I was able to get it out yesterday evening thank god, as soon as my wife gets home I'll send you the tracking number. Thanks.
~Ryan
============================

That's a poor excuse.

USPS has free next day pickup.

They'll also deliver priority shipping boxes/envelopes for free.

There's absolutely no reason for not getting a shipment out when USPS will pick up shipments at your residence.

On the chance that nevermind35 is reading this thread, I wanted to reach out to him personally...

Ryan... I'm new to collecting and was hoping that my first custom purchase would be a great introduction to the knife world.

I put my trust and confidence in you because of your many sales and long-standing here. I could have done more research and handled this with a more keen-eye but I got that "excited-newbie" feeling and jumped too-soon.

I feel that you can save your reputation by responding to the fellow forum members, moderators, and most importantly the two customers who paid you immediately but never received the Elishewitz Anubis knife you promised us.

If there actually is an Elishewitz Anubis knife, please send it to litetech as he purchased it before me.

Refund my money in full so I can move on and try to forget this ever happened.

I look forward to many years of enjoyment at the Blade Forum. I'm asking you (out of respect) to do the right thing so I may continue my journey here on a more positive note. Thank you.

litetech and Rydenjtg01, based on recent previous history and the lack of contact on this current mess, I think it would be highly advisable to file a paypal claim NOW.

nevermind35 is corresponding with others but will not contact you, it's your money, what are you waiting for?

What FLF said/wrote (or at least as soon as paypal will allow)! nevermind35 was able to post in and bump a sales thread yesterday (on another forum) yet couldn't address this business here...; that seems a bit suspicious to me.
all da best,
rats...

Both my bank and PP have begun an investigation. Certainly I look forward to getting my money back, but there is a larger issue at play here.

An apology to the board for some misunderstanding will not work. He has done this before.

The only course of action is to refund the money he owes to one member and or present the knife he advertised to the other. He did after-all sell the same knife (knowingly or unknowingly) to 2 different Blade Forum members.

It will not benefit nevermind35 to ignore this matter any longer.

There are some basic rules to learn from this situation.

Sellers:
1. If you are not in a position to ship the knife, don't sell it.
2. Attach the tracking number to the PayPal record.
3. Don't bother saying "it shipped, will give you tracking number later" because no one will believe you.

Buyers:
1. Use PayPal commercial option and pay the damn fee.
2. Correspond with shady people using PayPal ("send a message to seller") to document everything.
3. If necessary, file a claim as soon as you are allowed. Usually you are expected to wait at least a week, but start the correspondence process early.

I had a seller (with a good reputation now, so clearly he fixed his issues) tell me repeatedly that he shipped a knife without giving evidence. I opened a claim, and magically a tracking number appeared. I also had another seller mark an item as "shipped" but he only created the shipping label. I mentioned opening a claim, and magically the knife got shipped.

Some people won't do the right thing unless they know they are being watched. So watch them.

If the seller uses the PayPal shipping option available for goods (not available for friends/family) a tracking number will appear for that transaction and both buyer and seller can access it. The fee is a small price to pay for ease of shipping, the assurance of tracking and the peace of mind if PayPal protection.

Thank you for all your help. I filed a claim with Paypal yesterday, they give Ryan until November 20th to reply.

That stinks it takes that long. Ryan could do the honorable thing and take care of this ASAP. Won't save his rep in my eyes but it would be the right thing to do.

Sending offers to members and doing business elsewhere when you know full well you are leave people out to dry her is just shameful.

You know I saw the forum thread about him on the other subject and followed. I do this just to watch who to buy from and who not to and was happy to see it all worked out for everyone . Even felt bad about his said situation that got him in that jam but wow now after this just am like wtf he seems just straight dishonest doing sales on other forums while people here are waiting for answers just makes me think the sob sorry he sold everyone on before was a lie. I truly hope this works out for you guys sorry ya had to go through this. He deserves what he gets Imo now.

File paypal claims and get on with your life, don't wait for this to resolve itself. Time is ticking and the quicker you get your money the better off you will be.

Claims have been filed but the question remains. Does this just go away? Does nevermind35 re-surface as a new forum member? I just hope there are some safeguards in place to keep an eye on this guy. Still waiting to hear from him... And waiting... And waiting... And waiting...

On the positive side, I've upgraded to Gold Member status and looking forward to all the great benefits it has to offer.

Don't let this in any way allow itself to become some form of indication to the type of people that sell on this forum.

As a new member, and what to me through your posts here, a very well sorted person, it's really unfortunate that you had to go through this so early on in your time in this forum. (Not that there is ever the right amount of time to be on here before you get to deal with an a$$)

The point is, this is not the norm.
So many transactions happen here daily without issue, and 99.99% of sellers are amazing knife nuts who want to ensure that transactions are smooth and that both sides are happy.

Remember to ALWAYS pay PP goods and services, that will ensure that an issue like this never becomes a financial loss.
Read, and search...you can always look up the history of members on this forum, and get a very good idea of what kind of people some of us are just by reading and participating in other sections of the forum, other than buying and selling.

The GBU is a great place to get to know who cares, how much or sadly, how little.....

Enjoy the forum, research who you are doing transactions with, read adds carefully, and I hope that this does not happen to you again.

I would put his name and town in the first post so if he does come back to try it again someone can search for his name.

The Moderation will do a wonderful job of dealing with this the best they can...

As for who ever "nevermind35" is, it would be possible for them to create an account, but highly unlikely that the new account would last very long.

There are some very smart people on this forum who have a knack for figuring these kinds of things out....

done with all of this grateful you got the knife........
