I think we owe Rosconey2 a BIG apology

The original post was directed at a couple people who I consider to be taking a piss on a hard working full time Army part time knife maker who is considered first class among knife makers across the United States. 2 people who have far from being ripped off are bitching about time lines and quite frankly are clueless about how long it can take to get a knife from a custom order. If you want to bitch because he took the order then he got busy and missed the projected time line fine. Thats is what happened and now he has corrected it and just as his website says, he is no longer taking those orders.

Daniel has a first class reputation and these two are trying to put him into the same class as those who have taken many many orders and then just disappeared. It is well documented on this forum that many and I mean many people have been ripped off by ordering knives. In this case nobody has been ripped off, not a single person yet the whine fest for drama queens continues. Personally I would wrap them a cashiers check in a tampon and have it sent by courier but Daniel is a nice guy (Unlike myself) and thats not his style. He is a guy who has helped many soldiers and puts them first in line, thats first class, not to mention the help he has provided to many knife makers in making better knives. He sure as hell does not deserve any of this BS!

get your facts straight-next time you invest some money get told a item was shipped when it wasnt then get trashed by the guy who didnt ship-you might have a clue-till then shut the hell up

According to your posts you received the knife and then sold it so your story is over. Well its over all accept the continued bitching like a prepubescent school girl who is getting their first period on. The best way to handle that is to call your momma, not fling your newly red panties around in public places!

. . . .are civilians.

Go back and reread what I posted.

My hat is tipped in his general direction for his contribution(s) to the troops in the field and assisting other knife makers.

While you don't feel he deserves the treatment he's received in this and the other thread. . . .others do. The concept of this sub-forum is to let people have a say here. . . .

Good, Bad, and Ugly: This is your area to tell about your experiences (Good or Bad) with dealers, sellers, and individuals you've bought, sold, and traded with.

Let the chips fall where they fall. Your posting a diatribe about the history of the world (pun intended) to try to paint someone as a martyr to the human race. . . .will not stop the chips from falling. Simply, no one here is questioning the sacrifice(s) to his country or contribution(s) to the knife world.

You have to admit, he screwed the pooch a little (others will say more than a little). Hell, even Daniel admits it. What is critical - how one conducts themselves during the recovery. You've been here long enough to see the result. It's generally ends in two ways. . . ."All is good" or "A feeding frenzy." It's not surprising we're seeing a "feeding frenzy."

There is no problem with taking an extra three weeks to ship something to someone because you end up in the hospital. Things happen that delay delivery. Mistakes can be made and the wrong knife can be made for a customer. Those things happen. It is how those problems are looked after that matters. Communication is a must. The customers have to be contacted and informed. The fact that Daniel had time to post on Bladeforums, but no time to contact his customers and explain why their knives weren't arriving when they were supposed to is the reason that this all ended up here.

Putting military personnel at the front of the line is admirable. Health problems are an understandable reason for delays. Not contacting your customers when you have time to post on an internet forum is not something that people are going to accept. It is Daniel that told his customers when they would be getting their knives, and Daniel that didn't deliver when he said he would. It is his responsibility to let his customers know why.

If I recollect properly, Daniel posted that he was having computer problems, but he somehow managed to get on to Bladeforums. If he could do that, he could contact his customers.

Don I respect you as a fellow maker please advise me as to what you would do. Its not the fact that the knife was 75.00 I am overwhelmed with making my knifes at this time.

Daniel

Daniel, if I were in your shoes. First, I would appolagize to these folks and get this other knife out ASAP. I would stop taking orders or limit them and make what I wanted. If someone wants to order or is interested in your work, I would offer to put them on a list to be contacted when you have an available knife. But above all, I would answer emails daily and return phone calls in a timely manner. Good communication is the most important part of being a custom knife maker. Also, if you're overwhelmed, just maybe your prices are too low, just a thought. I really hope this helps.

Edit to add: Daniel, there is some very good points posted in this thread and not all negitive. Like Keith's above, we can all learn something here

Word to your Mother! :)

Who the F are you but some whiner on the Interweb? If you wish to address Daniel you should use the word Sir first because in the real world that is how he is spoken to. I have never bothered with posting on this site but in this case having bullshit artists dressing down active duty Army personnel its piss in my Wheaties. If you want a knife from him fine, buy it, if your a customer, fine, comment. If your just a faceless, clueless, jackass on the Interweb, I mean Uber Commando Interweber you shouldn't be playing with knives anyway so save the whine for your old lady!

and who the hell are you??

this has nothing to do with anyone being in the service, this has to do with a smith who isnt living up to his obligations.

once you take someones money, and promise to deliver goods/services, you aare obligated to keep your word or at least contact the folks you are obligated to to inform them WTF is going on.

to do otherwise, or to act like the folks you are obligated to are pains in the ass, is indicative to me of someone to beware of.

i would suggest folks take there biz' elsewhere,

When I addressed not taking orders....I put with a timeline...meaning I will take the order but will only give a guess when it will be completed not an actual date. I am a 1LT and a RN at Fort Bragg. I work 4 days a week just as a floor nurse, then I do exces Army BS. And on call 1 day.

Don I respect you as a fellow maker please advise me as to what you would do. Its not the fact that the knife was 75.00 I am overwhelmed with making my knifes at this time.

I am going to send this knife out whether I get the other back or not, is his integrity. I understand that makers sell just as much of there reputation as their knives. I do admit being late, I do admit being overwhelmed. I am learning from it. My knives can always improve and no i don't think I am the shit.

Daniel

It's probably hard for a lot of us following this to hear it by now, but the tone of this post is a bit different than what preceded it.

The idea of The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! is to come to the conclusion of a problem. Pissing & moaning for its own sake does no one any good. There comes a point in these discussions where people pop in and out, responding to yesterday's arguments, not realizing the discussion may have moved on, and that just starts it up for no good reason.

How about we give the man a couple of days to cool off, let some of the tension slide, get back to work, and then he can contact Dave, the one still waiting on a knife at this point, when he's ready to ship.

Daniel, it is good to see that you have calmed down and are no longer posting from anger. All that I think you need to do is to get much better at the customer relations part of your business (of course trying to make every knife better than the last one is also a good thing to strive for). In my opinion, it would also be a good thing if you don't post while you are angry. When you do, it is very hard not to post stuff that will start a firestorm.

I wish you all the best, and hope that you have learned from what has happened here. You make good knives and show a lot of potential, I would hate to see that go to waste.

... Well its over all accept the continued bitching like a prepubescent school girl who is getting their first period on. The best way to handle that is to call your momma, not fling your newly red panties around in public places!

I apologize to all for the delayed/late post to this thread. I have no comment on issue between the knife maker or his customers. My comment is directed to Bubba-Shrimp-for-Brains.

I take TOTAL and complete exception to your comments referencing young women who begin menstruating. Have you ever witnessed swarms of these prepubescent school girls flinging their newly red panties around in public places? I would bet you have not witnessed even one such occurrence. Please do not EVER infer that females react in overly hysterical fashion as they begin their journey into womanhood.

You're just a total jerk for even suggesting that this inaccurate portrayal of this initial transitional period would wreak such havoc amongst the well informed and educated young women of this day and age.

Just because you freaked out when you had your first wet dream and thought you were dying or had wet the bed is a personal problem. Transference of your emotional problems should remain your problem.

As example of modern day females.... my brother's stepdaughter had apparently begun menstruation. He was going to the store and asked if anyone needed anything. This young woman casually asked him to pick up for her a feminine hygiene product. No embarrassment on her part, no references to this major first event. Just a matter of fact statement, 'Yeah, would you please pick me up some Maxi-Pads" or whatever she asked for. My brother acted like it was a normal request and went to the store. He brought her back her requested item. Hysterical? No. Throwing around her red panties? No. Acting like a mature young lady who accepted this normal ritual of passage into womanhood? Yes.

So back the f**k off of your female analogies, Bubba-Shrimp-For-Brains. I certainly don't appreciate you referencing something that you have no personal knowledge of.

Unless, of course..... you possess one of the mangina's I've been hearing about. Then you may very well have first hand knowledge.

Again - my apologies to the rest of the BF members. I was late in reading this thread, only because I just sold a Daniel Prentice knife that had been donated to raise funds for the Vampire Gerbil Guardian Angel Fund. I think the knife sold within 10 minutes of posting.

Sorry for the rant. But not really. :D

Menstruation:
GOOD if you are 13 and thought you were pregnant

BAD if you are a male and not a female

UGLY if you do see them red panties splatter against a wall

Yup, this is the correct forum!!!:D :D
