I ordered this knife about mid 2005 and then Dave Kelly, the maker, had some severe medical problems and the knife was delayed until now. I still don't have it in my hands, but it's on the way and based on the pictures I am way more than pleased.

Specs:
4 1/2" 1084 blade
Bronze guard with bronze and copper spacers
Sambar Stag on a Black, Bronze and Copper mini frame handle
9 1/2" overall

I'll see if I can get Dave to post some more technical information if there are any questions, because I sure can't answer them!

Edited to add: detail of the frame handle is in post number 26 of this thread if you are interested.

Wow, this is nice. I love the materials, and I have to say the F&F looks top notch too. Nice job patinating the bronze.

Wow. I was just reading the description first, and wasn't prepared for what I saw when I scrolled down to the pictures. This one really jumps out at me as something very interesting. The colors and textures just seem to really work.

that knife looks awesome!!. Sometimes waiting for something special like that isn't so bad after all

well that was certainly worth the wait!

That is an extremely fine looking knife. Everything about it looks well done.

I can imagine you will make an equally nice sheath to go with it.

I think this is a fantastic looking knife, from top to bottom. Very nice!

Love it! I love subtle uses of copper on knives....that blade is very nicely finished....looks so soft!

Great looking knife, Paul. I like the use of bronze, very classy to me.

PS Thanks for taking care of Bill, can't wait to see the finished product!

Oh man! Very, very nice, I do like that one, Paul.

A nice kydex sheath with a big honkin' Tek-lock would really complete the package. ;)

I have to say not only does Dave Kelly make an incredible, original, finely done (and usually stunning) knife; but he makes sheaths that are as nice as any I've handled!

Another great job Dave!

That is the best put together hunter I have seen in awhile. It is beautiful. Mr. Kelly put together a fantastic blend of materials to come up with a perfect balance of blade, fittings, and handle.

Quoting from Dave Kelly's section in my third book
on custom knives:

"Dave Kelly was born in 1952 and spent over 20 years as a general
building contractor with an interest in building custom cabinetry and
furniture. He had his last major back surgery in 2002 and being unable
to continue woodworking, he discovered hand made knives.
While recovering, he purchased books and videos as well as materials
and tools, and began studying and designing folders.
Dave finished his first knife in April of 2003. He continues to make
folders and recently made his first fixed blade. Dave’s knives have been
inspected and approved by four voting members of The Knifemakers
Guild. He hopes to fulfill his ambition of showing his knives at a guild
show and becoming a member. The support and information shared by
the community of knifemakers has made being part of it a great
experience"
.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
