I waited quite a while for this one

It's simply outstanding and one of my favorite hunters. That stag is out of this world.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Doesn't this photo just make you want to put something together? ;)

Paul will you have this one with you at blade?

I'd like to see the two of them up close. Also I'd like to see what ever your sheath maker comes up with. :p

Hope to meet you this year

I hadn't thought about taking it to Blade, but if you guys want to see it, I certainly don't mind hauling it along.

I still haven't come up with a firm idea for a sheath yet. It's way to good for the kind of crap I've been making. I may get Paranee and Kessler to collaborate on a sheath for me.

Here's an update, Saturday 4/26/08.

This is a picture of My hand holding My knife and it's even better than the pictures.

Like the dark stag, very rich looking. That hamon adds to it too. Glad to hear the maker is well again! He does great work.

Hey Paul, I'm very glad that your knife arrived safely and you like it so much!!

I think this is one of the best parts about being a knife maker, when your customer is happy and satisfied with what you made!! :) Thanks for making my day!

Dave

Thanks again for the very nice comments you guys!!

Hello Dave,

I am so glad that you are back and doing things you love.

Remember the weeks when you could hardly move, and grinding your
teeth in pain set the tripod for some self-timer pictures of yourself
making a knife for book III?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hoping you're feeling better, Mr. Kelly.

That's a breath-taking knife, Mr. Long. Thanks for sharing its pictures. Would a sheath inlayed with monitor lizard compliment the stag or look too busy?

A knife is usually just a knife to me and it takes a lot to make me speechless, but this is about the nicest knife I have seen posted. Love everything about it. Congratulations to both Mr. Kelly and Mr. Long!

This knife is going to make me reach WAAAAAAYYYYY down to come up with something worthy of the knife. I'll probably exceed my usual turn around time just thinking about what I should do. It will be a blade sheath so as to expose all of the handle and guard, and I am (at this time) thinking either dark brown alligator or dark brown lizard inlay. I either want the horn back of the alligator or a really tight scale lizard. I may do an over lay of the alligator or lizard on the bow tie retention strap as well. Dave Kelly is sending me some Bronze stock to have a matching stud made to compliment the guard.

If all goes well I may have the finished set ready to show off at Blade..

It was a difficult time but I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm so glad you talked me into continuing, I know I would regret it now if I didn't finish it! Thanks Dr. David

Thanks!!

Congratulations to both Mr. Kelly and Mr. Long!
Thanks Paul!

If you're caught at the zoo with a measuring tape and notebook, we'll know why.
Looking forward to what you come up with Paul, just don't get caught!:)

Well, I got the custom bronze stud thanks to Joe Paranee and Lester Knight. It turned out just perfect! Im' not quite as thrilled with the sheath. I thought I'd like the full front look of horn back Alligator, but now that it's finished and the stud is comitted (that's a one shot deal), I wish I had done just a gator inlay instead of the full front. The alligator is very dark brown, not black and the sheath features the "Garsson Toe"

I can see your point about the inlay, but the full gator looks striking and very dressy. Knife and sheath make for an enviable package.
