I wanna see some EDC and Wilderness lights!

Get the ED2L. I had the TA-30 and sold it after a week, hated that cheap chinese feel it had on it. Ther SureFire is much more solid and the throw is fantastic.

Agreed man. Even the best functioning Chinese lights typically have the cheapo feeling to them that I just can't stand. Exceptions are the Zebralights, IlluminaTi, and a few others. Call me a snob but I prefer SureFire over just about every other brand.

Funny, I'm an odd one out I guess. I have had quite few different Surefires and they are all gone. I won't be buying anymore either. I do like the Nitecores but I edc a Fenix LD10 and have a TA21 that are both fantastic and feel better than any of the Surefires. I can't stand the G2s, they feel cheap and the switch has no versatility unless you buy an upgrade that can't even pretend to be original equipment. I did like my E2L and E2D until I found out what else was out there. I know Surefire is rated great for use in shooting, but I just need a light that feels good and works like I want. Fenix may be made out of country, but I have had excellent response from their customer service.

I've gone back to my AA Mini Maglite for EDC and outdoor use. I picked up an aftermarket LED, Terralux that is 140 lumens. It lites up the nite. Incredible upgrade.

I have an EO1 on my keyring and an L1D in my pocket or pack for wilderness outings:

Now the question is - can I be bothered gathering all my lights together for a photo shoot?

OK - I gathered all my lights together in one place (excluding some fauxtons and some cheap rubbish)

None of the Maglites has standard bulbs and only 2 are running standard voltages (All four of the 2D lights are running 7.4V). The big one on the top left is running from a nominal battery voltage of 29.6V and the bulb is receiving a regulated 20.2V which should be very close to 10.5A for 212W and around 7500 Lumen, it can be dimmed and it is computer programmable.

My EDC are the keys and the outer 2 of the 3 directly above them. The light on keyring is a Liteflux LF2XT and above the keys are the Nitecore D10 R2 (left) and the Olight Ti Infinitum (Serial 063) right. I do sometimes carry the Nightcore EZAA which is in between the D10 & Infinitum - but not every day. The Infinitum is my only Ti light and the only silver one in the pic.

Let me know if you want me to name all the lights in the pic.

Edit:
None of the Maglites have the original plastic reflectors or lenses either - all have glass lenses & aluminium reflectors.

Looks like a few of the Maglites have their heads modded for deeper reflectors. Is that right? I am interested to know what they are running under the hood, so to speak.

Whoa! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'm saving Gadgetaholic's post so that if my wife ever complains about me having too many flashlights (I have four at the moment with another one hopefully arriving this week) I'll show her what "too many flashlights" actually means :p.

Heck yeah!!!

Here is my latest wilderness light!!!!

Dude--you don't know where to find an oil lantern with a folding rear handle, do you? I've been looking for one for ages and I figure that if anyone knows, you would.

You should check out candlepowerforums - you can find pics of people's collections (there is a thread for collection pics) and you will see collections that make mine look positively modest.

I have a 4D maglite sitting in the car and would love to mod it, any simple and low-cost suggestions Gadgetaholic? :)

I don't know what "low-cost" is to you, but I like the Malkoff drop-in's.

Check them out at malkoff.com

You could throw a Maglite 3D bulb into it - it might not last as long but it would be fairly bright. Or update it to LED.

I keep hearing about them, will have to give one a try. As for low cost...I think the $76 drop-in+reflector for the 4D is a but much for me right now :o Maybe I'll squirrel some coin away :)

Forgot to mention it is the LED version. Looks like I'll start with the Malkoff drop-in at some point.

Best place to look is antique shops. You can google and find new ones online but no matter what the country of origin or company name, in my experience the new ones are junk.

What do you mean by folding rear handle? To hold the globe up?
