Don't forget guys, Tai Goo has a similar beauty of a hammer. There are tough choices to make...perhaps two?
Dean
Tai's hammers are first case hardened with Pixie dust and then quenched. I have heard that his quench media is heavily infused with tobacco residue. The forge he has is controlled by Ukulele music. The wilder he plays ,the hotter it gets.
Good point dean.
The difference between the two is:
Tai's hammers are first case hardened with Pixie dust and then quenched. I have heard that his quench media is heavily infused with tobacco residue. The forge he has is controlled by Ukulele music. The wilder he plays ,the hotter it gets.
Sam's hammers are made with brute strength and dumb luck, and the word control has never been used when talking about Sam forging things.
The tobacco/nicotine infusion in Sam's hammers comes from him spitting his snuff juice in the fire while forging.
Despite the drastically different approach to hammer production, both make a first class hammer.
I just used my Sammer a bit yesterday (I think it's only the 3rd time I've been able to use it since I got it at Ashokan) and I have to say that even though it's a longer handle than I'm used to (I'm a Hofi guy) I enjoy it quite a bit. Now if only Sam could build some of his forging skill into each hammer the stuff I'm making would look better
