I want a Salvati hammer!

Stacey, I was just voicing opinion as sooooo many do here. The other guys "tools" would be better brought up in a thread about his work I would think rather than muck up Matt's great thread about Sams awesome hammers.

Some hammer porn....:D

Indeed!! Absolutely gorgeous- If I owned a hammer like that It would live in my house separate from the others.

That turned out pretty cool.

...now if Sam will remember to send the hawk out to me to finish, we'll see if we can't one-up that!

Poor form talking about someone else's hammers in this thread.....
Mace

"Poor form",... I guess you’d be the expert on that topic.

Tai,
Forget faerie dust. It has been banned in California, and is under investigation by the EPA as a possible hallucinogenic and mind-altering substance....you will likely never see it again.
I know you used it in the 60's, and look at you....obviously there are no side effects.....so I don't know what the big deal is.

You sure seem to know a lot about it… ;)

I think Sam’s hammers look great and have said so many times. Even though we both make forging hammers, I don’t feel like we are in competition with each other. He has his style and I have mine. The world’s plenty big enough for both.

Sounds like we're both sold out anyway.

When I grow up I want to have a forge and a Salvati hammer by its side. It'll probably be a while before I grow up though... maybe Sam won't be sold out then. Maybe he'll have a full blow production line running with lots of employees cranking out his products. Of course by then he'll have a mail order catalog and multiple web sites, and his stock will be traded on the NYSE.

We used Hickory for the class handles, and I use it or oak if I can't get hickory.

Dean, busted!!!

Now this is trust!

Yeah wth? Are those kids punching with a drift and a 3lb hammer? ;p. Teach em to strike with a real hammer Sam!

Serious question though; is Mace's hammer with the (I assume) birdseye maple handle a show piece or being used? I ask because the hammer I made with figured maple didn't last 3 hours of forge work before I broke the handle. I've subsequently switched it back to hickory, and won't be selling any with figured/special woods, for fear of someone being injured.

A careful smith could use it no doubt, but I would not recommend it. I thinkn that hammer there will drive in the occasional nail.

Ok thanks Sam, that's what I thought. The 4ish lb head on mine caused some destruction when it flew off. It broke right at the bottom eye, and traveled about 10ft.
