I want the toughest knife ever made!!!

I don't get it. Why are there so many people telling the OP that he should get a FB, that folders with thick blades are poor cutters etc... I mean. it's true - but sometimes you just WANT a certain knife. And of all the places people here should understand. It's a knifeforum after all, isn't it? Sorry for beeing OT....
On topic: Go with the extrema ratio, it seems to be what you want.

Gentlebeings, let's not go haring after everybody and his hamster accusing them of being sprite in disguise. Especially when you can see for yourself he joined long before sprite started in, but even if you find a newbie who might really be sprite don't go chasing off every newbie who joins from now on with your ridiculous suspicions.

Carry on ...

sorry. i didnt even look at the join up date. :o:foot::foot::foot:

My point is that what good is the strongest lock and thickest blade/point ever, if your hand slips all over the place? What good is the best, most secure handle if the lock fails? There are knives that are strong in some points, but to find one that is just right/ the best, in each is the key, and the fun of the search for it. -If you just want the strongest folder get an ER or Strider frame lock. Just my thoughts.

how about a balisong...

1. the strongest locking mechanism

2. cool

Says who?!? What is your statement based on? I'll agree that bali's may have had "the strongest locking mechanism" when their only real competitor was the Buck 110, but times and technology have changed. All it takes for a bali to fail, and fail in a very bad way, is for a single (1) pin to break, and I have seen it happen. The Extrema Ratio RAO, just as an example of a folding knife with a stronger lock, has two (2) pins, larger in size, preventing the blade from closing.

I too like big folders. ;)

I would suggest looking at Emerson - the CQC11 is a big fella, or the Super SOCFKB. If you want a framelock, then the CQC12 is the way to go. Prices range from $165 to $250.

Otherwise I really like the SOG Tomcat III and the Chinook. Priced around $140.

Strider SMF is another big guy, quite pricey though at around $400 - $500.

Another ti framelock is the Combat Elite Level 1 from Wilson Tactical. Around $200.

The SERE 2000 from Al Mar is supposed to be a strong blade. Around $140.

His statement is based on what all the other Bali Song enthusiasts say. So it must be true.

For the criteria of the OP, and after his rejection of the Zero Tolerance series, what else is there to suggest other than Strider?

Sure, they may be a little more expensive, but with those criteria, what do you want?

You need one of these, framelocks with 100mm long, 4mm thick full height ground D2 blades, 4mm thick titanium or carbon fibre handle slabs. Cuts like a good'n.

Just invented a near fail safe lock, more reliable than the framelock and most other locks.

I don't know. Since the ZT (Strider-ZT) has the same lock (framelock with HLBS) as the full fledged Strider, I don't think "Strider" is going to do it for him. I'm going to second what a lot of other people have suggested, the ER RAO.

I recently bought a ZT301 and being one of those Busse guys I am extremely impressed with the ZT. It is a beast. But I have to agree that the RAO sounds like the knife you are looking for. Good luck. :)

For a fixed blade I'll be leaning towards a Busse. Probably a Battle Mistress or pretty much anything Mr. Busse came up with.

For a folder I'll go with (limited to my own experience) Cold Steel XXL Clip Point Voyager or my trusty old CRKT M16 Aluminium tanto. The CRKT may be a weird choice but I pry with it (stupid yeah) too and it give me a sense of confidence that I cannot explain. Maybe the lack of worry because it was 2nd hand and dirt cheap has something to do with it.

PS: I really hate chisel grinds. I wish I had the ability to reprofile the edge.
