Thick blades aren't very good at slicing.

They can be if they have a full flat grind.

The first thing I thought of when I read this thread was the Extrema Ratio RAO with that extra locking pin, but it seems the matter has already been settled.

Check out a Severtech. Made from A2 tool steel. It is an automatic, but it is built like a brick $hithouse.
