I wish Spyderco would...

I wish that Spyderco would...
keep doing what they're doing. :)

I don't know....titanium military, sage 1 and 2, mule team, urban, Terzuola slipit....my wallet hurts just from my wish list!! They can stop anytime :)

keep spending my money for me... wait... they are. ;)

I can't ask for more, they are already working on things I want, and then they come out with things I didn't even KNOW I wanted.

More ZDP and more H1, thats all I want.

I normally have a Blue Box in the glove box. Carrying TORX are just handy.

FWIW I have never gotten so much gunk in my knife that a soapy water bath couldn't handle with ease.

I carry a Blue Box in a pocket of my EDC bag. Rarely do I have to use it when I'm out and about, and when I do it tends to be on other peoples knives. :)

They've stopped!
This is horrible.

Did Sal fire the QC team? Cut all ties with Seki and made friends with knifemakers in Pakistan? Did he sell his last batch of S30V to pirates?
What's going on? I can't take the madness anymore... OH THE HUMANITY...

Just curious why everyone wants so many models in H1? Is it mainly just because of it's lack of corrosion?

I ordered a Salt 1 for myself and a friend had me order him one as well. I haven't been all that impressed with the edge holding and he won't even use it anymore. In fact he gave it to me because it will get dull so quickly and he builds and repairs boats and said he didn't have time to mess with it all the time trying to keep it sharp.

It will get pretty sharp but just doesn't seem to hold it. Now ZDP on the other hand is very impressive. Just wondering why all the hype and lust?

If you take the time to clean your knife at the end of the day most stainless doesn't have a problem with staining, even in saltwater.

Not trying to stir the pot, just wondering.

Very good toughness as well as rustproof. It's edge holding is in the neighborhood of AUS-8/10 so it's not terrible. Pretty decent actually.

I have a mini grip in 440C which is supposed to be close to AUS10 and the grip seems to hold an edge much better. What are the chances of getting a couple of knives from a batch with a bad heat treat?

I wouldn't think the odds would be very high. Maybe I will put a file to it and see if it bites in or skates over it.

It will probably bite. H1 knives are differentially heat treated because they work harden. The spine is about low 50's and the edge is 58-59 from what we've seen in testing.

Sharpen it up a couple of times and see if you notice a difference.

Interesting. I wonder how they do the differential heat treat? The only ways I am aware of are with clay and with a torch. Wasn't aware a production knife used this type of heat treat.

I use paper wheels so maybe they aren't doing much work hardening and the repetitive use of stones would harden the edge up some?

H1 isn't hardened with heat. Grinding it work hardens the steel, making the edge hard while keeping the spine soft.

Well you learn something new every day. I knew that it would work harden but I thought it used nitrogen instead of carbon to allow it to harden with a heat treatment. And since somehow the carbon is what allows the steel to rust in normal steel, the H1 doesn't because it lacks the carbon. Still not real sure of the chemistry since the only thing in rust is iron and oxygen. It seems like if there is iron in the steel that it would still be able to rust. But I guess the nitrogen attaches to the iron so that the oxygen can't bond with it somehow.

Not partial to screw construction myself, regardless of head style. I wish they'd build more models like the Persians and Kiwis, with flush pins, bolsters, and scales. :)

The flush pins and bolsters with the scales is one difference that I noticed between my CF Caly 3 and CF Native. I too really like the flush pins and bolsters, but not all of the pins are equally flush. Not bad for production standards but not perfect.

I'd love to see a new tanto blade come out. I'd also love to see the Delica's blade extend all the way to the end of the handle. Other than that, keep on the same path:thumbup:

More RIL. Full Ti handles, too. I have having one side in G-10. It messes with my sense of symmetry. Everything else is fabulous.
