Yipes. You know what they say about "imitation being the most sincere form of flattery".

I've been seeing a LOT of rip-offs of knives lately. Boker CLB knives, Emerson, and others as well :mad:. Most seem to be coming out of China but one rip-off I saw was from United Cutlery IIRC

This is South African. Amazes me when someone doesn't have enough brain power to come up with their own unique stuff and have to steal others. But you know, in many ways, that's why I never really worry that the United States ever losing its status as a super power. ;)

I realize there isn't a large amount of variation to "take a price of metal and put an edge on oneside". However, it looks as if they just traced the izula and drilled a hole in it.

I'm guessing within a couple of days that email address should be bouncing back :)

That's the whole deal. You can't change a knife design much...it's still an edge, but to trace everything about the knife is just flat amazing to me. I would have at least made the skeleton handle a bit different. Like I said, not a lot of brain cells being used by that company :D

they did jeff see the para-cord hole thing.... thats 10% right? jk

hey i have seen a countefit busse not long ago.... pretty much every thing .... its just an off shoot of popularity , people in the know will know whats up... if it works people will copy it its how we work... its how we get information across oceans/time/cultures... when things just work they show up over and over...

i emailed em asking what the deal is what the influances are for these blades.... i doubt ill get any thing intelegent back

btw i just got a knock off chinese tram..... bad ... very very very bad.... i kinda want my 5 bucks back....

I have to admit I was surprised to see this coming out of South Africa and not somewhere in Asia. This sort of intellectual theft is often glossed over as less than what it really is - theft!

The crazy thing is that, at least in the pics, their knives look quite decent. Couldn't they bring the same creativity and craftsmanship that they used to create their other offerings to the table when they designed a neck knife. Sad.

If anyone gets a response I think we'd all like to read what their excuse is. Morons.

All of this is sort of comical to me. I emailed them and asked them if they had expended all their brain cells on coming up with the Gecko design. Like I said, the American citizen need not worry that we will ever lose our status as a super power. Onward!

dang, they really went all or nothing. and this case got nothing. Don't worry though, I know my own personal desire for an izula will not be had by some knock off

Looks like he just added a hole and made the top grooves bigger.

It is a wonder, being from S.A., he just didn't drop the I and just call his Zula, LOL :)
