I am delighted to hear that this has ended well and I must say Jeff that your magnanimous gesture in allowing him to still make it speaks volumes about you and your company.
The way you have handled this goes above and beyond consideration.
I do not own any RAT knives but this incident has shown that I need to change that post haste.....
I will post pics of my first knives when they arrive...

Glad this was resolved in a friendly manner. Still curiosity has me wondering what kind of sheath it comes with if any. Regardless, I would never consider buying a copy.

:thumbup: Thats pretty cool. Never know he maybe telling the truth about never seeing an Izula?? Anyways I don't think they are taking to much business away in South Africa? And if they are you a generous for letting him have a little bit :)
 
Nice resolution to a tawdry episode. Cool that he manned up and surpisingly cool that you gave him your blessing to continue making them. It doesn't quite add up what he wrote to you and what he wrote back to other members:

Here's the way we look at it: we're not real sure how all of this come about, but after reading his email my gut tells me he didn't set out to rip off our design. Just the fact that he emailed us, apologized, and said he was going to stop making the knife shows us that he is sincere about his business. Any man that is sincere about dealing with another man honorably is ok in our book. We truly wish him the best and if he wants to continue to make the Gecko and sell it, he will never hear the first complaint from us. In fact, I would personally like to have one. Nice looking knife and work!
 
Actually, I was going to say I kind of want one too :o While I've been tremendously impressed with your 1095, I'm also a huge fan of Sandvik 12C27 :D You guys rock :thumbup:
 
Drop him an email and tell him you want one. He may have just generated a lot of sales by doing the right thing, eh?
 
That's cool that this got resolved somewhat peacefully. And that's a very generous offer to let them continue the production of their knife. If he has the balls to send you an email to apologize than I'm sure he's sincere.
 
Email sent, they couldn't even come up with an original name, they used the 3 letters to trick you or fool you into thinking RAT.

The people will buy the better quality knife in the end, it's just a shame that they'll get the uneducated money first.

I got a response that includes some of what you discussed with him. He sounds like a stand up guy. I sent him a note thanking him for what he did.
